Is that the multi-player video from RDR that everyone was talking about Darth? Looks so exciting!

I just think its detrimental to young authors when a lot of the reviews are "OMG YOU SO AWESOME!!". It doesn't hit on the spots where their writing could improve. Like the reviewer right after mine that pretty much said to disregard what I was saying about the gratuitous bits of the fics.

jtav just got up. And please don't hold me up as some kind of writing teacher. I'm not that good. There's a huge audience on FFN for unvarnished fluffy romance, regardless of characterization. I'm a niche writer. I know that.

Don't be. As for the story, best I can gather, the author is probably a teen woth a rather naive view of relationships and hasn't been writing long. Give it time. But never be afraid of leaving concrit because you don't write. Different skills.

But now you know why I'm harsh on Miranda. Reaction to stories like that. After a while, I want to shake authors and scream "Is this all you can come up with? She's a Cerberus agent. Lots of potential there."

Yeah its really hard to find the right mix of fluff and seriousness...on FF.net its either one extreme or the other. And I'm still jealous Image IPB

Okay, I'm reading back over yesterday's post and am vaguely alarmed that a revelation that Miranda's father wasn't that bad wouldn't make most people lose sympathy for her. I could understand a Renegade Shep justifying it because some of his choices can be horrific, but kidnapping a child to get back at Dad's well beyond my personal tolerance. As is a knowing and deliberate role in what happened to Toombs. I miss something?

I only commented on the "implanting Shepard with Reaper tech" part...didn't know it went any further than that. Sooo yeah...*scratches head*

Yes. The power of wishful thinking. Many came to like Miranda very much, so she can't be that bad. She can't - and whatever she might have done, as a consequence, can't be that bad either.

Having said that, I don't exactly recall what others here said. I only recall I said I could forgive her for implanting Reaper tech in Shepard, depending on the expected level of risk, but not a willing part in Akuze, or Oriana's kidnapping under the assumption her father wasn't that bad..

It was one guy, but I brought up the kidnapping thing before and several people said they wouldn't find it unforgivable.

i am more disturbed by this apparent obsession with being either "renegade" or "paragon" and not just doing what you feel is right in the given situation, as you would naturally, in real life. Renegade shep doesn't nec. mean that that person would do all/only renegade actions and vice-versa.

anyway, shepard judging how "bad" is bad, he has to either rely on miranda's word (likely, whether in a relationship or not) or her father's. even if, somehow, he was proven to be comparitively mild, it doesn't lessen miranda's own internal justifications, therefore wouldn't necessarily affect how others see her.
