SEEMS like a betrayal....not IS a betrayal.....
And as fire said, she does seem to lack the ability tom think for hersefl. Sure as Valmy said, she may have thoughts, but she does seemt o do whatever eitrher the concensus is or her superior says.
So, seems like a betrayal, thats what she says. Nothing else.....not resigned at that point. Shep then DECIDES what hes doing.....and then Miranda (as is usually the case and as fire pointed out) then goes along with him....
I have to disagree with you on this, Mavi.
Miranda, Shepard and TIM are not acting alone. They're working together. It's clear in that discussion that she reached the same conclusion as Shep and both are trying to make TIM see things from their POV.
Her resignation at that point wouldn't make any sense. It only makes sense once she sees that TIM only cares about getting his hands on the base, no matter the cost (in this case, at the cost of Shepard).
So again, in my opinion, she could have said no and agreed with TIM, she could have shot Shep....she could have agreed with Shep and NOT resigned....
Again, I must disagree. There's no way she could have agreed with Shep and not resigned. TIM doesn't take disobeying orders lightly. She even throws that back at him.
I feel she sided with Shep and resigned as she see's Shep as stronger and more cpabale than TIm (and remember everything Cerberus does for her given her father and sister).....
For once she made an actual choice imo.....as to 'why' she makes that choice I guess we might find out in ME3 hehe.....
It's clear that Miranda made the choice because she felt it was the right one to make, which was reinforced by TIM's reaction. Remmember that she is the one who initially sells the idea of how important Shepard is in the fight against the reapers to TIM.
Also, because of her interactions with Shepard throughout the game, she has come to trust and value her own opinion much more, enabling her to act more according to her own thoughts and feelings.
There's another point you seem to miss when you talk about her position in Cerberus is that even if she is very important, EDI makes it clear that Cerberus functions as independent cells, with no knowledge of each other. This means Miranda, regardless of her importance, is only aware of what her cell is doing, nothing else. Only TIM is aware of everything.
You also mentioned Niket. It's obvious she didn't want to kill him. She felt that, unfortunately, it was the only way to keep Oriana safe, and as such, she felt she had to do it. Good thing Shep can stop her, otherwise she would be emotionaly devastated.
And IMO, after having Miranda in my squad in every mission possible, it's clear she has a pretty good moral compass. She is relentless in her assignments, but I don't believe she would do something trully objectionable.
Not everything Cerberus does is abhorrent. And TIM is not stupid. He is surely aware of Miranda's mindset and would never jeopardize her loyalty by ordering to do something she would find trully objectionable.
As Miranda herself says, she is tasked with Cerberus' most difficult and technically challenging assignments.
Those are assignments that don't involve a complete disregard for anyone and anything.
There isn't much difficult or technically challenging about hatching Rachni eggs, infecting people to become Creepers, ambushing soldiers with Thresher Maws and abusing children to create powerful biotics.
