I meant about talking to Liara beyond codex entries.

When I first go the game, I pondered what Shep would do if Miranda died. I suspect she would be furious with him if he killed himself or made "a deal with the devil" for another Lazarus Project (Paragon). It would make him less than what he is.

If people kill themselves because of a failed relationship, it's their fault. It's incredibly stupid to throw one's life away that way. My empathy with people suffering from a failed relationships ends right there, and I'd refuse to be held responsible for any self-inflicted death.

I'm not much for serious convos about death, but taking your own life is prolly the most selfish and idiotic thing a person can do.

Not to get too far into this, but I can imagine situations where death seems preferrable. But failed relationships are not among them. I also think that the LI characters in the ME games are strong enough as personalities that they wouldn't throw their lives away for that. OK, I can see Ashley accepting a suicide mission, but only because that falls into her pattern of behaviour anyway. 

You know whats kind of funny? Every time I see someone (I do it too as you can see above) say "Not to get too far into it" or "I'm not much for..." it usually involves getting further into the subject matter.

LOL. Reminds me of Ashley on Virmire, saying "Why is it that every time someone says 'with all due respect', they really mean kiss my ass?"

But yeah, I still stand behind my belief that suicide is never an option and is very selfish indeed. There is so much in life to live for and a broken heart heals with time.

I'm not opposed to being selfish. Everyone is, most of the time. And I must disagree: while I consider it stupid in most situations, it *is* an option. My life is my own, to continue or to end.

I think he would make a deal with the devil if he thought Miranda would approve.

Regardless of how it effects others around you? I always consider the fact that I'm not just here for me.

Yes... but you did ask: what else is there to love but her personality. Well, I think how she looks adds to her appeal in a significant way, even if it's not sufficient on its own.

Miranda drew short straw or something the first time I played. She usually argued for the exact opposite of what I intended.

We're exchanging views, I don't consider that pushing. And yes, if the situation is so extreme I'd consider to end my life, then others around me are very probably not a consideration any more.

Not that I ever came near such extremity.

She does have her own set of convictions, considering how she speaks of Cerberus and its goals. So depending on how you play your Shepard, I would expect her to disagree sometimes. But I can't recall that this opportunity really arises all that often in the game.

And whether she approved of that deal, that would depend on the details, especially if her own opinion is different from Shepards regarding these details.

If any of your LIs killed themselves upon your leaving them it would be very lame, indeed.

But suicide in and of itself is called selfish too often. People's pain can make them incoherent - in the moment they kill themselves it nearly blinds them. It's sad.
