hm...would you guys have been more likely to save the collector base if TIM wasn't such a dick the whole game?

Nope.  Reaper Tech is too dangerous to left intact.  Its indoctrinating potential is simply too big of a threat.  TIM and Cerberus would just replace Saren and the Geth if you gave it to them I think.

Probably not, but then again I'm an incurable idealist.

Yeah sure, I'll do what I can to help. I did write a few fanfics back in my mid-teens, lol. I'm not linking them though, I'd be too embarrassed to read them myself. Posted Image

Never written a fanfic, but I've written a fair few stories, including an historical story based around a squad of British Paratroopers on D-Day.  I lost the file years ago though...it was the best piece I've ever written too :crying:

I saved the collector base in my first playthrough. And I'll do it again in my third. I consider it the more interesting ending, regardless of TIM. I only wanted one game with Miranda resigning from Cerberus.

Ah...and I firmly believe in not throwing away any knowledge.

No. That base is waaaaaaaaaay too dangerous to risk it falling into the wrong hands. Gotta be nuked.

Plus Miranda telling TIM to go to hell is awesome.

I agree it is more interesting

Oh sorry man, that must be a real ball ache. I was just thinking about my old fics actually and I remember they all got really good reviews but I never finished any of them...maybe I was better than I thought? *Feels mildly good about self*

The only current Shep I have who LIed Miri DID keep the collector base.

It depends on how you look at it, I guess. To some people he wasn't acting in such a fashion. Take the Collector Ship mission, in the de-briefing session Mordin agrees that TIM made the right choice sending us onto it even though he knew it was a trap.

I got 8 Sheps (4 of which I've completed so far), the score of destroyed/saved the base is 5-3, though 1 of those playthroughs where I destroyed it will never see the end result because Shepherd died.

Frankly I thought TIM was more than generous towards Shepard personally...at least during the course of ME2. It was simply a different commitment to different goals that led to our disagreement, but in my defense it was our deal from the beginning that I was to destroy the Collectors not capture them to further Cerberus goals.

it could also provide the clues to a countermeasure against indoctrination though.

It could provide all sorts of things...I simply calculated it was not worth the risk.  Especially with TIM and Cerberus, who answer to nobody, having control.  They are dangerous even in the best of times.

but wasn't that calculation based on how you were treated by TIM during the game?  what if he wasn't such a dick?

Damn it. Writing's one of my strong suits but I'm afraid to look like a fool with a fanfic. Hell, I don't really even know what a fanfic is. Is it basically just your fantasized short story or something? Posted Image

I will admit that yeah the whole TiM/cerberus thing does make a difference.....

I eman...lets say it was the Alliance who brought you back...and said keep it in a more all together pleasent manner....

Think it would be a very different story, TiM's 'obssesion' makes the final statement to me to nuke it.

Sometimes.  Basically you just write a story about something you are a fan of.

I mean obviously it is most effective if you actually have something to say about the story.  Like what your personal vision of what the relationship between Shep and Miranda was about.

Yeah if the Council or the Alliance had asked me to leave it intact I would have.  But those organizations are huge and bureaucratic and kinda sorta accountable to the voters.  Cerberus is totally different.

I was shocked when she said she was going to play it. I wish we could hear what she thought about it

Basically that's what it is. A fanmade fiction based on something you like, short stories seem to be the way to go when producing one.

If you're a good writer, by all means...go for it, we'd love to see what you come up with!

Plus, I have no doubt that if TIM thinks Collector/Reaper tech gives him an edge, he'll try to attack the other Council races at some point. Or perhaps even the Alliance.

Yeah, pretty much. I'd suggest not trying to force yourself to think of a story, if it comes to you, make a note of it. That way you won't forget, lol. Once you've got a rough idea in your head, start writing/typing, I used to find it easier once I started putting words on paper.

Of course, the main thing is to not rush. Take your time, enjoy it and you'll be fine. Posted Image

The best part of Mass Effect 2 was Miranda and Commander Shepard in the engine room

I love that scene of course.

However I do hope they return to the tasteful nudity of ME1.  There was something more mature about that, these characters are in their late 20s and 30s after all.

My favorite part was:

"It doesn't work that way. We could all be dead by this time tomorrow. So if it's not worth it..."

"No... it is."
