Like I keep saying, it's her past and immediate future I see as rough. I think she was abused, and I think she has problems with trust, self-esteem and empathy because of that abuse. But she's not doomed. She's strong enough that she can overcome those problems. I'm a big believer in earning your happy ending. Have you guys ever noticed I put her through hell, but I never leave her there?

Though I still like my "Illusive Woman" bittersweet idea.

I'm a big fan of the "Same Time Next Year" idea....

MA, the only problem is that the set up might be confusing because it wpuld be post ME3 and highly speculative.

Mavi: I can neither confirm nor deny that.

Isn't that the fun part of being a fiction writer?

Can do, if you'd like a hand.
As regards whether Miranda would marry/have kids, I believe it's very much a perspective/background thing. I agree that neither of those are likely to happen until well after the Reapers have been dealt with. The Illusive Woman angle is a good one too.
In the end, what I'm hoping for is that Shep & Miri get a decent 'ride off into the sunset together' kind of ending, or at least, something that allows the player to use their imagination as to what happens in the epilogue.

Oh, yes, an ambiguous ending. Making up stories is powerful fun. I want to imagine Miranda's ending for myself, not have Bioware tell me. My main problem with my Illusive Woman idea is that I then have to explain what happened to TIM and the Reapers and that's a long story I have only vague ideas about and don't want to write in any case.

Ahh, the "Reapers". We have dismissed that claim. As for TIM? Well, I've an idea how that could have come about, but I'd have to get around to finishing my current bit of fiction. Considering one of the scenes in it, there's a fairly logical progression from there to Miranda being in charge of Cerberus. The only flaw I can see in the Illusive Woman idea is that the pair of them would make a far more effective team with Shep being Head of Operations and Miri being overall head/Intelligence Chief.

Granted this option probably means that they don't marry/have kids, or at least, put it off considerably. The former is more likely than the latter, in my opinion.

Interesting idea, Shep as the new Illusive Man who actually does work to improve Humanity...without being a total jackass.

@MA - it'd be more The Illusive Couple rather than Shep being in charge. Miranda's leagues better than Shep when it comes to Intelligence - i.e. gathering/analysing thereof surveillance etc, however, Shep is far better at the Operations side - commando raids, security, that sort of thing. I can see the set up being similar to how things were with the Lazarus Project - Miranda handles the organisation, Shepard(instead of Jacob) protects it.

Perhaps, depends on how you see Shepard...I tend to give him a lot more credit and see him as a lot smarter than others do. Then again I play an Infiltrator so that might have something to do with it.

Not a bad idea, though Shep working for even a reformed Cerberus breaks my brain a bit, though that's just because mine's 's a Paragon who could probably double for Cap.

*continues to mull how to condense backstory*

Oh, I am giving him credit - however, I am taking into account the fact that Shep's been considerably military/spec forces most of his adult life. This isn't to say he can't do intelligence work, it's just that Miranda is better at it than he is, because that's how her training/life has gone.
Hopefully this analogy will make sense - Shep (especially Infiltrator Shep) is very much like an SAS bod attached to MI6, whereas Miranda is an MI6 bod attached to the SAS.
(Or to use a US an example - Shep is either Delta or SEAL, attached to the CIA. Miranda is CIA, attached to Delta/SEALs.)

Why not? The foundation is there...Cerberus or whatever Shep decides to rename it is well established and extremely well funded. Why throw away something like that when he could use those resources to actually help people instead of using them for test subjects? Kinda hoping that Shep taking over Cerberus would be the Renegade ending in ME3...I would so be Renegade then.

Indeed - why not - Shep & Miranda being in charge of Cerberus/Cerberus redux would or could be a force for good in the galaxy, especially from a Paragon perspective.

You two are making entirely too much sense. MA, the "Same Time Next Year" idea is hanging by a thread. Hope you're happy ;) And I do love my bittersweet endings...

However, I can see them doing a spin on "Same time, next year" - they've got to have some time purely to themselves/away from being galactic superheros, if only so they can remind themselves why they do what they do and why they've stuck together.

PA, that's a great idea. Hope someone else writes it. Now I just have to come up with another "duty over love" scenario that doesn't involve death, now that you've burst my bubble.
