No - just by leaving the base you are giving a chance for any Collector technology to get into the wrong hands - thus allowing the threat of it to continue.

Yes, that's the option I was looking for. I consider destroying it and having TIM have it exclusively equally stupid. But you just don't destroy knowledge. Once it's clear some technological process is remotely possible, people will think about it, and it's basically out of the box. It's the same with the Genophage, the best you can do is delay the research for a few years. And then probably someone else will have the advantage. The whole concept of "too dangerous to know" is complete nonsense IMO. The problem isn't knowledge as such, it's exclusive knowledge.
