Sorry, jtav, I'm usually silent when I have nothing to say. Or something.

So, um, Shepard/Miranda for ME power couple.

Amen to that.

Stoic emotionally stunted hard-asses ftw.

Welcome to the thread DathCyclops. I like Miranda in part for her ruthlessness, so you aren't alone. And, yes, she's dead useful. I take her everywhere.

Yes exactly. People are reading too deeply into her nickname. I've had several pet names my self. None of them are even vaguely related to my real name, though.

Thanks.

Truth be told, I couldn't help but see her as some sort of sci-fi take (tribute?) on Emma Frost from the x-men, eh.

She's by far the best pre-loyalty squad member. Overload AND Warp? Sold!
Not to mention her unique passive skill, eh.

Only Kasumi comes even close, really.

Just noticed, I almost never call Miranda "Miri" on the thread. Wonder why?

Me too. I avoid it on purpose. Calling her "Miri" in discussions about her feels like inappropriate familiarity she wouldn't encourage, and anyway it's the Shepard I play, not me, who's in love with her. I could not call her "Miri" without feeling I disrespect her.

Just out of the blue...

I can't be the only thinking Shep would definitely make it a point to *not* call her Miri?
Regardless of gender of emotional entanglement, really.

I mean, it was the nickname given to her by a friend who betrayed her and died one way or the other.

Surely Shep would opt for "Mira" or simply her full first name?

I see her as sort of Natasha/Black Widow? Does that make Shep Bucly?

Only until the movie comes out, and Steve's Cap again.

That works too, I guess.  Haven't bothered with Avengers in forever. Unless you count Ultimates.

But then again, I can't play a Paragon Shep as anything but a Sole Survivor. The logistics of the War Hero origin just don't make any sense. So no Steve Rogers analogy, really.

Evans playing Cap will be an hilarious tragedy.   Don't have a problem with the actor, but he played Johnny freakin Storm. Cap would hate that frat boy.

Yeah, that makes some sense, I think. It's been a while since I've read Cap, though.

Not to mention the implicit dramatic tension if ypu're doing the romance with her as a Sole Survivor (talk about the elephant in the room in game. They barely mentioned Akuze) But it's fun to play around with in fic.

I guess it is, but there's no way Miranda had anything to do with Akuze. I'm not saying she wouldn't have done it at some point in her life.

I'm just saying her boss wouldn't be stupid enough to put her in the same room as a Sole Survivor.

Also, it *really* is surprising there's no mention of it ever since Sole Survivor is the closest thing to canon origin-wise.

But her constant Cerberus apologetics would really grate on a Sole Survivor. It's ridiculous it was never brought up. It's the defining moment of default Shep's past.

I actually wrote a story where she was unknowingly complicit in Akuze (she sent TIM a memo suggesting weaponizing thresher maw venom). She and Shep find out at the same time that TIM gave Wayne a copy of that memo. Cue fireworks,

I'm assuming this is a male shep pre Omega 4?
I'll venture a guess Shep didn't kill her, but I have a hard time seeing him wanting to have even talk to her.

I'm probably in a minority here, but I think that no matter how "Dead Scientists" is resolved, Sole Survivor Shepard can at least start putting Akuze behind him/her.

Nah. The Illusive Man is a murderous supremacist bureaucrat/puppet master. Any Shep would hate him just out principle.

Still, I could see Shep acknowledging this crusade as Cerberus' accidental attempt at redemption and thus humoring them. Shep would of course initially be hostile to the crew, but eventually cool off after Garrus joins.

Would've been nice  for a Sole Survivor Shep to tell the IM something along the lines of "This is your second chance. Don't f*** it up."

In an effort to breathe some life into the thread: (Seriously, where are the other regulars?):

Let's stipulate Miranda returns as a squaddie in ME3. What are your dream and nightmare scenarios?

A romanced Miranda and a jilted Liara get into a fight. Not sure how I feel about that one, though.

I'd like to remind you of that post in the old version of this thread near the end where I brought 'Mr. X' into the limelight (Miranda's father) and the ambiguous choices for your shep that his introduction brought about; namely potentially sacrificing your romance with the one equal he's ever going to have (okay, I'm slightly biased in thinking that) in regards to security for humanity/the council species and thus; galactic space-faring civilisation. In short, in case you couldn't remember the question I posed:
Would you give Mr. X (Miranda's father) information on Oriana's whereabouts if it meant that Mr. X would massively subsidise the cost of retrofitting the entire Alliance arsenal with Thanix and CBT technology?
Remember, Mr. X is supposedly a very wealthy businessman, and while it wasn't mentioned what industry he was principally involved in, it would make a bit of sense if it was an aerospace engineering company within the Alliance military-industrial complex principally because it provides the conspiracy theory of a massive monopoly within alliance defense contracts between Cord-Hislop aerospace (a large aerospace company which is actually a front for Cerberus) and Mr. X company.

But wait Arijharn! You cry;  "Mr. X stopped funding Cerberus when Miranda escaped!" Well, personally I think it would be more interesting if Mr. X only gave that impression, I would prefer for Miranda to honestly be guilty of something like hubris more than anything (if only to illustrate just how human and thus, awesome, she is). This whole arc I think would be sort of a mirror image as a result at the end of the Collector Base issue as well (to keep or not to keep).

I want Shephard to be human in ME3... in terms of doubts. All people have doubts, regrets... Shephard had this in ME1, yet not in ME2 and I think it diminished our hero to be honest. I want Shephard there unsure what actually to do, but at the same time, I hope Miranda will be with him, maybe sacrificing as much as he does in terms of sacrificing something for the good of all. Makes me think a bit about Mary-Jane and Spiderman sacrificing their marriage to Mephisto... although hopefully ours would be more grounded.

Theres no such thing as a canon Shepard.

Not my Shep... :P

It might be because I just woke up but your posts massively favour the sole-survivor origin.
