Ieldra: you have a point regarding the playfulness. Perhaps she could approach the matter indirectly to begin with, through banter. Though the "promise me you won't die" is fairly serious, so she isn't always quite so flippant.

Always coming up with new ideas Jtav. I think that if Bioware took that route, it would seem more meaningful than "meet me in the engine room".

andy: I really like the idea of splitting it. As it stands, a chunk of the playerbase sees the romance as a fling. I don't like that interp, but I see where it comes from. This way, the player gets to pick. The "Friends?" bit is one of my favorites and I find it romantic. How ironic that it breaks the romance.

Yes, it is a very sweet scene. I like the idea that you came up with about her not wanting to give her heart away only for it to be broken, that'd be a real sweet (who knew you had it in you? :P) and emotional scene. It fits her character well too.

The most annoying thing regarding the "friends" option is you know that BioWare won't let you pick that option and then get a different reunion in ME3, that's just not how they roll unfortunately. The option was basically there so you could turn her down without being a dick about it.

Oh, I know. Pity the game isn't as moddable as BG2. This is just for my own satisfaction. I was complaining on another thread that I could come up with a better resolution, and this was the result. Might turn it into fanfic, or at least sketch out a script. I'm just frustrated that it wasn't hard to come up with because then I start to wonder about why Bioware didn't do something like this. One extra scene, partly using dialogue they already have, doesn't sound difficult.

Vyn: Alas, I have more ideas than I know what to do with. And my execution is usually less than ideal. But it gives us something to talk about.

Better than nothing at all. I don't think that the devs are good at writing romance; that's why it could be better. It could also be the fact that they focus more on Shepard's story and his role since they stress that the romance is optional.

@Jtav: I see, but if you do have a chance I would say go for it.... ( sorry If I'm over stepping my bounds)

Jtav do you own Dragon Age on the PC you could mod that to hell and back if you wanted to. I wish ME2 was a moddable as DA:O.

I think it depends on the dev. I usually enjoy Gaider's romances. Not to be sexist, but I wonder if it's a gender issue. Presumably the romance was written to appeal to men. My natural preference would be to scrap the engine room scene and replace it with mine, but I suspect that wouldn't go over well.

Oops. I meant the ME devs. Gaider did well being the lead writer for DAO. Hm, it could be a gender issue. I personally don't like any of the romances for a female character and the ones for a male character are somewhat better. I think something like your scene should have been in the game if someone chose that option.

Huh?  Men are total softies.  We would be all over that.

Valmy: sof-ty. Seriously, replace "men" with "stereotypical teenage male who primarily appreciates Miranda for fanservice" I fear we romantics are outnumbered, at least as a percentage of ME players.

Just caught up on Chuck and I have no idea what the **** is going on.

Spoilery goodness for Chuck 3x11 to 3x13
Shaw has possibly one of the most contrived stories I've ever had the displeasure of watching. Argh. So disappointed at the hype. I'm angry enough to write a long long post but also angry enough that I can't even write my thoughts down coherently.

Plus I doubt this is the spot to vent this abysmal offtopic anger.

Sidenote: Where the **** is the angry smilie?

Shaw was a serious failure on the writers part.  Very amateurishly done, his character broke almost every law of writing fiction: everything about Shaw is informed we never see any of the qualities he supposedly has or the relationship he supposedly has.  It is simply hard to believe it was done so poorly.

Honestly, I think only romantics are still posting here. The fanservice fans are all off playing whatever latest game has come out and posting in those forums.

I think the Bioware core fans are mostly romantics.  We play these games for the characters.

Heck I have always just done the fights to get the next plot point for as long as I can remember.  Games are just another way, the best way IMO, of telling stories and exploring characters.

Chuck related - might be spoiler

I'm interested in seeing what they do with the next 6 episodes. I'm intrigued by the name of one of the episodes - Chuck versus the ring part 2

Hehe ok got a little carried away there.  I just love me some Chuck.

Obviously the other part is this is probably some sort of final showdown with The Ring.  I noticed the two episodes they decided to repeat here in the US related to the discs with the Ring intel.  Maybe that will feature alot in the next six?

Valmy: I'm with you. I play these games for the (characters' side)stories. I don't like shooters, but very few companies make characters I want to analyze or write about.

I think I might have finally shed my cynical rep. Hope so, anyway. Honestly, I write one story where she's an inadvertant war criminal, and I'm the designated "dark Miranda" apologist.

I think bioware do a great job both with the NPC characters (talking in general not just ME here) and also the ability to let the player have good choice of how their character reacts, not only our character but shape the destinys of those around us.

In ME, don't recall many of the females getting such treatment, but you could potentially influence Garrus, Wrex and Kaiden. We can influence Garrus (again), Mordin (to some extent with the killing/sparing of Maelon and keeping/destroying the data), Jack (only really if taking LI path) and Miranda. Can't really think if we have any real influence on the others atm

Maybe so, PA, but everyone seems (jokingly) shocked when I say I found something romantic or come up with a positive scenario. I can't do both?

Don't sweat it jtav, I know I have made fun of you about this before but it was just that: having some fun.  I know you are a total Mirimaniac like the rest of us.
