Not too much so. Ashley and Miranda may be very different, but I have the impression that quite a lot of Miranda fans also like Ashley. IMO she's second only to Miranda as LIs for maleSheps go, and there's a lot of empty space between these two and the rest.

The answer depends on this: did Miranda take Oriana with her when she ran away, or did she come back later for her? I think the latter is more likely: Niket helped her get away when she first ran, and she couldn't have hidden Oriana from him at that time. But Niket didn't know about Oriana's age. So I gather she must have come back later to get Oriana away.
IMO it could've been up to a year, plausibly, from Miranda's running away to her joining with Cerberus. I tend to think it was shorter since she probably already knew about them through her father's contacts, maybe a month or two. But I think she used Cerberus resources to get Oriana away.

If he's got any sense, he'll not start anything - no matter what background Shep has, there is a certain elemental force of nature/irrestible force aspect to Shep that tends to bode ill for those who cross him/her.

So yeah, he should be scared of messing with Shepard. But I would prefer Miranda to deal with him herself if it comes to a final conflict. It would be fitting.

Really? Why? They're not my favorites either, but Garrus is at least cool and has an interesting voice, while Wrex is about the best you can get from a krogan, even if that's not so much.

My personal blacklist, listing ME1 and ME2 characters I wouldn't mind not returning as team members in ME3 (not saying anything about a role in the story), consists of these:

(2) Zaeed
(3) Jacob
(4)  Wrex
(5) Jack
(6) Garrus
(7) Thane
(8) Liara

I think we can take it as given that Garrus will return, considering his inexplicably huge popularity.

I think Miranda is a person who values her privacy and would prefer their relationship not to be very visible at work. So yes, I can see that, too. At the same time, I think they would get some amusement out of that game, putting hidden meanings into standard phrases and competing with each other about how long they can keep this up before the pretense shatters in an explosion of irrepressible mirth. So I can see it going both ways, and they may be formal, but they certainly wouldn't be able to hide it all from the crew.

Here's my personal version of integrating events in Miranda's life into the timeline:

2150 Miranda is born
2166 Oriana is born
2166 Miranda runs away from home
2166 Miranda joins Cerberus
2167 Miranda takes Oriana away from her father
2183 Lazarus project starts
2185 Events of ME2

So there are about 16 years in which Miranda worked for Cerberus even before the Lazarus project starts. Time enough to spend some time at a university, sponsored by Cerberus, and to rise in its ranks so that when Lazarus project starts, she has both the abilities she needs and TIM's confidence.
