i don't think war hero is single-handed pawning of anything, it was more like his leadership that saved the day (one soldier against ships?!). even if it's not specifically stated, it is alluded to in me1...

The codex entry (something about risking your own life) and the ME2 dialogue make it seem it was a one-man show.

It does say that you rallied the civilians, but it also says that when the Pirate forces breached the line that Shep held and sealed the breach on HIS OWN.

MA: and I fear it'll remain in our heads. Too many variables. Just like I don't expect it to matter that Shep romanced Ashley, but left her to die on Virmire. But in my head, Shep's just as scared of losing Miranda as she is of losing him. He never wants to have to choose between love and the mission again. Far better to keep his distance. But he can't.

I actually went back on doing that to Ash, the potential for drama if she lives is too "juicy" to pass up. So yeah, my Shep will "cheat" on Ash...more like after Horizon he will be over it knowing that two years can change a lot, even himself.

Yea, My face will be like this when Miranda and Ash start killing each other:

щ(°Д°щ)

I'm hoping its really "brutal" in the emotional sense. I really hope BioWare does the confrontation scene justice in ME3. I want tears, and yelling, and all kinds of drama. After its all said and done I want to feel like this...Image IPB

Since I'm pretty sure the dev's idea of drama will be "Catfight!" Ash is toast.

I only went through ME1 twice, but I never could never quite find a reason to put Ashley on that Salarian team.  The bomb was going to detonate no matter what, so it came down to mere numbers, really.

Oh, and then there's the L2 biotic demi-god variable , lol.

Pretty much, eh. The 'rallied other people' variable doesn't have much weight if Shep had to do all the leg-work.

I believe that War Hero Shep leads civilians in the defence of Elysium, and at one point held a breach in their defences on his own long enough for Alliance reinforcements to arrive.

I make Kaiden take the bomb every time...because he is a "tech" of sorts...Ash is really good at ground combat. But, after saving Kaiden once...it never feels right. I let a bunch of good soldiers die to save one guy. The bomb will go off regardless. I'll just save the strike team and Ash instead.

So he's basically the lovechild of Theoden Aragorn at the battle of Helm's Deep.

I freakin love LOTR, but do I even have to elaborate on this one?

I usually send Kaiden with the team because:

1. The dog/bear analogy.
2. He actually brings something to that team. No disrespect, but Ash is just another gun.
3. The dog/bear analogy.

Grr. I'm trying to do my "canon" Shep runthrough, but the face creator is stopping me. He looks like a deformed frog. Can't get the jaw and mouth right. *cries*

You mind? My head!Shep actually resembles Brandon Routh in facial structure a little, only with more scarring, but I'd settle for someone who didn't look deformed in profile.

Are you telling me that you're making your custom shep look like Shaw?

My interpretation of the War Hero background takes a lot from Horatio at the bridge, Leonidas at Thermopylae and other such last ditch scenarios. Basically, he's the last guy you want to be facing when his back is against the wall, because in those circumstances the rule book goes out the window. If there is a nasty trick or trap or whatever that will do the enemy damage, be it physical or psychological - he'll do it. If that means always sniping the first/lead person in a group and shooting the second in the gut so they'll die screaming, he'll do it. If maiming the enemy buys him more time and scares them even more, he'll do it.
As far as my War Hero Shepard goes, if what he actually did on Elysium got out, he would probably get the same sort of infamy that Ruthless Shepard has.
