That isn't exactly how I read the Ruthless portion of his background...he doesn't just SEND the men to their deaths...he is down there fighting ALONGSIDE them. The reason its so bloody and bad is because he refuses to pull back and instead presses on to destroy every last pirate/slaver/terrorist as I'm sure he was ordered to do...because the Alliance navy wasn't able to touch the underground base with their advanced weaponry.

Okay I gotcha, I read it as Shepard just sending his subordinates to his death from a mile back....

Hah, Udina would do something like that...not Shep, no way.

One thing I will say is that, story aside, I don't think Miranda had anything to do with Akuze. I don't want her to have had anything to do with Akuze, even innocently. Revealing that she'd been unknowingly complicit in some atrocity would have set up her doubts a bit better but I'd prefer something that didn't affect Shep directly. It works better if he's her conscience, not her accuser. But it would be nearly pointless to do this in ME3. She's already lost faith/resigned.

The thing that is frustrating is that you cannot even mention Akuze at all in ME2.  I kept waiting for it to be addressed someplace.

I wish Udina was better at his job. You'd have a reason to choose him.

Valmy: it's incredibly frustrating. Even Miranda informing him that Cerberus is the only game in town "unless you'd rather the Reapers win, of course. That would make Akuze look like a pleasant day out" would have gone a long way.

Erm I think you can mention it in a conversation with Miranda. It´s in the second or third iirc.

As far as I know, the shuttle ride is the only time it's mentioned. As much as I understand her insistence that Cerberus is good from a characterization POV, my Shep is barely restraining himself from tossing Maranda out the airlock for the first half of the game. It's harder to justify a Miranda romance with that background, except perhaps for a sex scene that is clearly just about mutual lusts that they're satisfying so they can get it out of their system. Not impossible, I'm rather pleased with this scenario that I came up with. Just more difficult.

I'm not sure if anyone asked this question ,but Miranda and Jacob, how? I personally could not see any type of relationship they could of had together. I cant imagine Miranda pursuing Jacob,or her withstanding THE PRIZE line. As for Jacob I dont see the appeal.

1. It's my understanding that Jacob was a good bit stronger and more heroic in Galaxy -- very similar to Shepard. It's easy to see how she could be attracted to that version of Jacob.

2. Shep isn't exactly witty when it comes to flirting either, if not quite so bad.

3. Never underestimate old-fashioned sexual attraction. I don't think Miranda has the intimacy issues that Jack does, but I think she prefers to keep her relationships casual. That way, she limits the number of people who can't hurt her emotionally. She may not have been looking for anything more serious than a "friends with benefits" relationship.

Am I the only one who finds it amusing and a little frustrating that Miranda actually comes off as friendlier than Jacob post-Freedom's Progress? I kind of miss the ruthless streak that she displayed in Lazarus Station. I'd also find it easier to believe that "femme fatale" description of that Miranda.

1. Wow that is boarderline blasphemy.

2.I agree, but still is better then the priize.

3. I hope that your not suggesting that Miranda is a Morrigan/Chamber hybrid, are you?

Sixth Ghoul:

1. I haven't played the game, but it sounds from the summary as if Jacob were kind of awesome in Galaxy. And he was a Corsair. It's entirely possible they toned him down to better suit his sidekick role in ME2.

2. No argument there.

3. Don't confuse "prefers casual relationships" with "will sleep with anything that moves." She has standards. But I don't think she becomes emotionally invested in either her platonic or romantic relationships very often. The more people that you love, the more ways you can be hurt.

1. Maybe so, I'll just mark galaxy off as the twilight zone tribute. As for the corsair's, I think Jacob made the whole group up just to fit in. I agree with the tone down. I'm sure many players ,myself incoulded would feel threatend by Jacob... what?

Shepard: Jacob we needed to talk.
Jacob: I dont like forcing these talks-
Shepard: Good ( loads Shotgun) neither do I.

3. Thats a better answer then before, I'll agree for the most part.

Anyone know if it's possible to mod the game so that the black is Miranda's default outfit? I vastly prefer it to the black-and-white one, and would love it if it were available at the beginning of the game

Should be possible. There's a whole bunch of texture mods out there so I'm sure you can find it or at least request it.

Thanks. Now, if we could just have content mods in the manner of BG2/KOTOR/DAO I'd be a happy fan.

I know! They insist on not allowing it for Mass Effect though and the DAO toolset was painful to use in the beginning.

What black and white one?

Or are you talking about the brown and white one as seen below? (look at her left arm, it is definitly brown, just darker than the posters, rendered and comic pictures) ;)
Image IPB
Reason it looks black a lot of the time is due to the lighting in-game mostly being not much and so thus due to the darkness of the brown it tends to not be so visible but managed to pull this pic out of my stock clearly showing that it is definitly brown (even to some extent a lighter brown than her hair)

I also find it rather odd since Wilson constantly mentions that she's an ice queen before you really meet her (waking up to an Angel staring down over you not-withstanding ;)). If anything, I think she thaws way too quickly, but that may just be because of time restraints/cut content during development for the sake of pacing.

Also, I disagree with you jtav, I think that Miranda usually doesn't form (sexual) relationships at all, Jacob, Shephard and possibly a couple of others throughout her life after her escape from her father seems to be, in my opinion, the few that she's had. I can't really figure her as a 'friends with benefits' type of woman, but I also can't see her as someone who 'falls in love' all the time. Perhaps she's only really had that with Shephard (biased!) and possibly Jacob.

Despite what Shephard says in regards to that nature of Niket's relationship with Miranda (I always thought of it as if Shep was asking her if it was a romantic relationship), I took from it that Miranda and Niket were more like a brother-sister relationship with Niket fulfilling the role of surrogate brother.
