*laughs* No, I'm not planning a Miranda/Liara epic. Far more mundane. I have a longstanding AU idea that involves Shep having a romance with an undercover Miranda before ME and moving on to Liara after Miranda's apparent death. Never got the structure to work, but maybe if I frame it as Miranda telling the story to Liara...

Hi everybody, morning, afternoon, evening for some, just wanted to add my three cents. I was wondering way they picked Liara for the comics Tali was clearly a better choice. Point one Tali wasnt a LI that line you get from Liara only makes sense if see was your LI.Secondly, that line only makes sense if you didnt pick her up last and completely disregarding her. Tali on the other hand joined near the begining and who can potentally owe you twice. Lastly Tali seems to have more pesonality more flush out then... Liara:I R stereotypical robot asari, I am hear to mind rape Shepard... error obey! obey! exterminate!!!

What line are you talking about?

I think it's important to remember that regardless of whether or not you romanced Liara, she cared for you and had a thing for Shepard. You can tell her you don't feel the same way and shoot her down as an LI, but it doesn't change the way she feels. She likes you.

Otherwise, yes, you're right, it does kind of lose momentum if you picked her up last. Oh well. Guess they can't account for every eventuality. I'm sure they have a hard enough time never referring to Shepard with a gender pronoun in the comics. :P

I think Liara thought Shepard was an amazing person. Because he/she was able to endure the beacons and mind melding without getting his/her mind destroyed. As well as a person of action and ability. That's why I thought she couldn't "let Shepard go" regardless of whether you romanced her.

Was talking about the "I couldnt let you go"line. To me it doesnt make any sense if you didnt romance her.

It's not the same that the live show interview. This one is great.
I like when she's talking about her voice acting work, and her character.

See my post and Nightwriter's, I think. She still has feelings for Shepard and think he/she's a unique person. Thankfully Liara helped save Shepard's body because he/she seems to be the only person who can form a team and get things done against the Reapers.

What odd questions! I must know, if the interview is so diminished by their absence. I MUST KNOW.

I don't know where this theory comes from, but there's some speculation that another Lawson daughter ran away before Miranda. I'd love to see a story where Shepard and Miranda have to face off against someone who is just like her, except for being a complete sociopath who really is everything Miranda's detractors accuse her of being. Actually, what I'd really like to see is some kind of time travel story where post ME2 Shep faces off against a younger Miranda who treats him as another target.

Yes, it's implausible. But I have this thing for time travel stories and I'm still a bit miffed that we didn't see her femme fatale side.

I dunno about time travel, but the rest of this would certainly be interesting.

Miranda did say, "I wasn't the first daughter he made, Shepard. I was just the first one he kept." Who knows what happened to the others?

... And I would like this story much more than the one you have where Miranda dies. :( I don't think I could read such a story.

Unfortunately, all I have is one line and no story:

"Our" Miranda (in earpiece): She doesn't love you. She might try to seduce you, but don't kid yourself. You're just another target. The second anything goes wrong, she'll kill you without a second thought.

If they'd died of cancer, Miranda would have said that she was the first to survive, plus Oriana was meant to "replace" her.

That sounds interesting. The "false" Miranda, of, course, looks exactly like the "real" one, so there's some potential for confusion.

I'n not usually into time travel stories, but it just happens I'm mastering an RPG campaign with time travel as a central concept. I can only say this is weird, having to deal with things like the observer paradox and repeated visits to the same moment that aren't quite what they seem to be. If you ever get to write this story, I'd like to read it.

Edit:
I take "the first one he kept" to mean that the others have been killed or aborted. The former being more likely, for the kind of "defect" that would mark them failures would not manifest before birth.

I figured they were not measuring up in their training and had to be eliminated.  It would also help explain Miranda's compulsive need to prove herself and her skills over and over.

I sincerely hope Miranda can beat him to a pulp in ME3. I also hope certain other bits of speculation I've heard about him aren't true. I wonder why he never tried to make more daughters after Oriana (as far as we know). If I were him, I would have attempted to get my hands on Shep's DNA for my "perect kid kit." You'd end up with what amounts to a biological daughter for Shepard and Miranda. Can't see that ending well.

Where do I come up with this stuff?

Ooh, sounds interesting.

Write more.

In fact if Bioware doesn't give me something on Miranda's and Liara's history and the impact it gives to Miranda's romance (if you romanced Liara first game) then I may just have to beg you unmercifully until you write something about that, too.

I'm a fearsome begger, you know!

You could write it. Liara's not my favorite. I'm not sure I could do her justice.

I'm not the only one here who writes, right? I'd love to read something that didn't have Miranda as a damsel-in-distress or acting like a teenager with her first crush.

No, you're not the only one who writes. I love to write. ... At night. But I've really never done any fanfic.

The kind of stuff I'm talking about wouldn't center on Liara. It might include her, but it would be about Miranda, of course. And Shepard.

And I would never write anything depicting Miranda as a damsel in distress. That is SO not who she is to me. At all.
