If I were him, I would have attempted to get my hands on Shep's DNA for my "perect kid kit." You'd end up with what amounts to a biological daughter for Shepard and Miranda. Can't see that ending well.

Where do I come up with this stuff?

It's not new. There's a similar scenario in the third season of "Alias". Creepy. Using a flamethrower to destroy that lab seemed like overkill, but somehow appropriate.

I can see a similar outcome with Miranda and her father's new creations.

Really? I stopped watching midway through season 1 .And you're right about it being creepy. And I can see Lawson doing it, probably just after ME *shivers* I seem to have a taste for the grim when it comes to Miranda.

I think setting the lab to the torch is appropriate. Preferably with Lawson inside.

*laughs* No, I'm not planning a Miranda/Liara epic. Far more mundane. I
have a longstanding AU idea that involves Shep having a romance with an
undercover Miranda before ME and moving on to Liara after Miranda's
apparent death. Never got the structure to work, but maybe if I frame it
as Miranda telling the story to Liara...

Ahem. The fact that she's chatting with Liara afterwards should give it away.

Hi all! I'm new to these forums, but I am definitely a Miranda supporter.
I first heard about the Mass Effect series from a friend right before ME2 came out. At the time I only had a PS3, no 360 or PC, so it didn't really matter. But then I heard that Yvonne Strahovski was in it, and I must admit, as a big Chuck fan my interest was piqued.

Towards the end of March I finally got a game-worthy pc setup, and played through the first Mass Effect. It was epic, and I was totally drawn in. After experiencing a romance with Ashley Williams I realized that the option would probably be available with the Miranda character too. After playing through ME, I decided to stick with Ashley if she was available in ME2, and "stay faithful" if she was not but the subject was brought up. I found that Ash was a really well done character, for a videogame, who I could feel that my Shepard had a connection with.
By this point, I had actively decided not to go with Miranda, regardless of Ashley. I'm sort of a reflexive person this way. I got interested in ME partially because of Yvonne/Miranda, therefore she was off limits, I didn't want my "first impression" to interfere with how I experienced the game (illogical I know).

Things didn't go as planned. The problem was that while Ashley was a good character for a video game, Miranda was a good character period. I still didn't want to go in that direction though. I was thinking that romancing an alien or a psycho would show that my character was into more than just looks. But as I progressed through the game, I found that Miranda's story was just so much better than everyone elses. She was better than they were.

Hearing her backstory was interesting but nothing special. It had depth equivilent to the ME1 storylines, and I had already seen that with Ash. The loyalty mission is what really did it for me. Miranda went from "Genetically engineered femme fatale who works with Cerberus" to this completely three dimensional character. She needed Cerberus because Cerberus was protecting her sister, and because cerberus was all that she knew. She didn't really have anyone else or know anywhere else to go. If she left Cerberus both her and her sister would be endangered.

This mission did a great job at showcasing Miranda: Her desire to give a normal life to her sister; the line "I don't really have any friends outside of Cerberus... and you"; her staunch adherence to the idea that Niket would never betray her; the moral crisis that came as a result of Niket's betrayal; the "valid" reason Niket had for betraying her; the ending scene where she goes to her sister and she cries! and then of course the "thank you" to Shepard that comes after was quite nice.

It's a mission which could easily survive on its own as a short film. By the end of it, I was sold.
Miranda isn't a simple character. Her backstory has multiple threads and they all affect her current life, not just who she is but how she has to live. She's not easy to figure out. I can sum up many of the other romance options quite easily. I cannot sum up Miranda nearly so quickly. I've read some threads complaining that it's more difficult to get Miranda into a romance, and you can lose your chance much easier. To me that speaks to the brilliance of the gameplay. Her character is strong enough that it demands her romance travel along a slightly different path from that of the more passive LIs, and that the game accomodate that. Its not a romance that you suddenly realize happens when you see a dialogue option. By the time you see the dialogue options appear you've already seen the connection between Miranda and Shepard, you knew it was coming. To make it better, you also see how the events they go through together create a strong bond of friendship that acts as a foundation for the whole relationship.

Welcome.

OT, but people had trouble starting a Miranda romance? The only one I missed was Garrus on my first playthrough, because I couldn't imagine my Shep being that forward.

I wish I could mod the game to expand and alter Mirabda's romance. So much I would do differently, especially now that I've heard Kasumi's lines.

Welcome, MrNose. I see things went for you as for quite a few others here: starting ME2 with the intent of staying with the ME1 romance, then getting caught by Miranda. :)

And that's all I have to say right now, since it's getting very late. Good night, everyone.

This is very much a "budget and censors be damned" post From an earlier post, slightly modified:

What I would've done is split the romance into two paths during the
last normal conversation. If you choose either "Love?" or "don't know,
don't care" then the romance plays out as normal except that Miranda
doesn't ask you to promise her that you won't die. Instead, you get
something much more funny and flirty -- more in keeping with the engine
room scene.

However, if you agree to remain friends
until you save the galaxy, then the romance is different. I'd tweak the
dialogue to emphasize that Miranda doesn't want to give her heart away
only to see it broken. There'd be an even stronger undercurrent of
"when this is over..."

When you set course for the relay,
Miranda would come to your quarters. She's been doing some thinking,
and decided that she doesn't want to wait after all. She then asks you
to promise that you won't die. Same dialog as we have now (hug and
"worth it" included), except she kisses you passionately at the end.
Cue sex. I'd have the beginninh be very serious, but Miranda would become very playful from the kiss in. I leave the details to your imagination  I can imagine something going wrong (stuck zipper?) and her laughing about it.

Also:
--More conversations about things big and small. Maybe Shep walks in on her listening to Nielsen and they talk about music.or she tells him about her first Cerberus job.
--Joker teases you mercilessly over the relationship..
--Small flirty moments during and after in-game cutscenes: she grabs your hand when you go through the relay, etc. If the entire crew survives, Shep crushes her to him and says "Just this once, everyone lives!"
--Additional options for cuddling. complete with dialogue
--No idea how to work this in, but I'd like a small scene where Miranda is hard at work but smiles slightly to herself for a moment before shaking her head.

We need a scene of Miranda making an official statement on how she most certainly was *not* smiling on the job.

Oh, and about how nobody should trust anything the lying klepto says when it comes to anything having to do her with non-relationship with Shep..

If Shep didn't romance anyone in ME1, you just *know* Joker and Garrus would set up a "Will Shepard get laid" betting pool. At the very least, they'd laugh at how his first date in forever was with a serial killer.

And yes, I do believe a Paragon Shep would nag Miranda into *not* killing them.

I thought Miranda was masterfully added in. I think even the way it felt a bit odd and awkward at first added to the realism and pulled you in. She went from "that bossy cow" to "ye Miranda and me are chums dude". By the end I was thinking "seriously Ash you owe me a lot of beer and happy time" especially after that o-so-fun reunion. Ouch.

Was interesting the way they managed to start it out feeling like she was in charge or determined to be. Then by the end she was your second in command but more of a friend in general and totally loved being there. Very well pulled off Bioware. :)

I'm actually going to give miranda an honest run through and see how I feel about her. I've been pretty indifferent thus far towards her.
