Yeah, I happened to refresh the page right after Kraidy's post. I am utterly bored so I've been browsing the forums.

Vyn: I'm in the doghouse with Ieldra for saying I would be content with a Wrex-style cameo for Miranda. You'd think I was a Bioware staffer. For some reason, it's a lot easier for me to come up with good cameo/temporary squad ideas for her.

I hope they do an origin style similar to when you'd pick your character origin.But, instead a small limited  number of characters from me 2 that survived. Like, if all survived you can only pick a max of three as the permanent party.

No, I haven't.

Cameo idea: If you're a Renegade, you meet her trying to bring down a rogue Cerberus agent. She's more bitter and cynical than when last you saw her. She no longer believes in Cerberus but feels she has nowhere else to go and no purpose. Depending on how you handled Oriana/whether you romanced her, you can remind her that there's more to her life than Cerberus.

Paragon: She's the rogue agent. TIM is either actively hunting her or You help Miranda fight off a small army of mercs. She confides that she wonders whether the resignation was worth being hunted and near-certain death/. Once again, depending on what you did in ME2, you can encourage her. If Miranda's dead, replace her with a generic Cerberus agent you're either apprehending or helping dpending on your choces.

Either way, the main plot includes taking down TIM. You'll have additional options of what to do with Cerberus if she survived, including making her the Illusive Woman. And this isn't mutually exclusive with the romance. She can have power and love.

I can live with that.

I like those ideas. Fits her character well. The only issue is how do would you explain why she left Shepard for those events to happen?

*reads post* I really like that idea, actually. My big fear if Miranda is recruitable is that her arc in ME2 will be ignored in the name of expediency and most of her stuff will be interchangable filler. That's one reason I dislike Garrus: I feel like my attempt to Pargon him was a waste.

Vyn: Renegade's easy to explain. She got transferred because TIM no longer trusts her. Paragon: she needed to disappear. Shep can't protect her 24/7.

I should hand in my fan card, yes?

Nope. Keep the fan card. Who else is going to come up with new things to think about? Oh, and have you seen this? Might give you hope for Bioware fixing things.

Miranda only resigns in the Paragon ending, and only if she was in your party. I've chosen to simplify that to just "Paragon" If Miranda feels she's putting the mission at risk, she'll leave. I hadn't seen the article. My cynicism is rooted in the fact that they'll have to spend just as much time on the other ME2 team, at least the LIs. I'm deliberately lowballing expectations, so I can be pleasantly surprised later.I just hope my baseline isn't too ambitious.

But, yes, I'd go so far as to say that what I outlined above is what I'd do if I were on staff. Just like I would have had Garrus return in Bailey's role in ME2, with C-Sec being run differently depending on how you handled Saleon.

And I'd include a little extra if you romanced her. Say if you chose to give her Cerberus:

Miranda (looking around her new office): All this is mine. Just hope I can make a better use of it than he did.
Shep: I trust you.
Miranda: Thank you. I'm going to be busy with things here for a while. But when this is over, you and I are going to have some time to ourselves.

Ah, I didn't remember much since I've only done the renegade ending a few times. Now I'm getting a Morrigan vibe. I'm going to remain skeptical because they did ignore a lot of important things in ME2.

Still, it would work. To be honest, I don't know if you are expecting too much. If Bioware makes Miranda leave without a good reason, I'd be disappointed.

You've got me. I'm a hopeless romantic. And I like this ending for Miranda. She gets to have a role of her own that doesn't depend on being Shep's XO.

Not only does she have a role that doesn't have her answer to someone else, but she can make a difference in the galaxy that doesn't involve morally questionable means. I know, its too bad. I seriously wish they could take some of your ideas in mind when making ME3. Hm, maybe they're already planned on using ideas similar to your own.

I like these endings, too. But at this point I just have to repeat that a good, in-character ending does not exclude having Miranda as a permanent team member. I wish people would promote the best case instead of what they'd be merely "content" with. That's what this thread is for, isn't it? So please stop coming up with clearly unsatisfactory scenarios just because you think the best case is impossible.
