Actually, I suspect it's going to take a while for Shep and Miranda to sleep (as in actually sleep) together. No particular reason for this, but I think they mostly sneaked back to their own quarters afterwards. I also think they keep their personal and professional relationships very separate. They treat each other very differently on duty than at other times.

Possibly, but I can see them seeing what they can get away with during the day, if only to wind up Joker and Garrus.

Probably. Gotta say, the fact they still have lots to figure out was one of the aspects that sold me on the pairing, eh.  The other romance scenes just seem too... final. Still better than ME1, but oh well.

Honestly, I could see them enjoying subtle mind games. Nothing serious or too personal, just some sort of civil (eventually friendly) contest of will. And yes, they would totally keep score.

I'm not trying to diminish either's leadership capabilities, but you gotta figure handling that nutjob crew must be stressful.  Realistically speaking, odds are Shep often brought two squads and had Miranda lead the one with the sanest squadmates. And even then, one couldn't blame her for wanting to strangle half of them on a regular basis.

OK, OK....The evil plot to deprive the "cool guys rule" faction of their champions in the survivor game.

Oh, I think Shepard is a better squad leader than Miranda when it comes to combat. On the other side, he can't do subtle, and Miranda is the better coordinator of spy operations.

Garrus? Why would this wind him up?

And...hmm...considering Joker's Extranet preferences I'd think twice before letting him see anything. You'd never know where the camera was lurking, and where the result would end up.

Soldier or Vanguard fan?

*Totally approving*

Only played with male Soldier and female Vanguard so far. Infiltrator was lots of fun in ME1, but it just felt totally ooc for a LEADER and real quick at that. As IF Wrex would've fallen in line. Pff.

I have a few theories on that, lol. Refer to my sidekick!Garrus epic.

But seriously, I can't help but think that Garrus sees male Shep as a sort of Big Brother/Hero figure.  He wouldn't be comfortable if Shep would go for PDAs out of blue.

Refer to his convo with Septimus in ME1. It went along the lines of: "What could a woman possibly do to him? This is pathetic!"

Actually, not at all. Those two are the classes I do not play. My observation comes from Shepard's behaviour in conversations (that he can't do subtle) and from the fact that he is a military officer first regardless of his class. An Infiltrator Shepard can do stealth through technology, but he still can't do deception well and would be lost in a spy game. An Adept's biotics are all visible and out in the open while a biotic spy could do all sorts of interesting things not implemented in the game through a more subtle use of low-powered biotics, which I can see Miranda do easily. All Shepards, though, are excellent squad leaders and charismatic in their way, which again, Miranda is not.

Oh well, at least we agree on how any Shep wouldn't know subtle if it was a Krogan pack charging at him/her.

And that's why I sometimes have trouble identifying with him. I like the more subtle types (like Garrett from "Thief"). But he's an action movie hero, so what can you expect but explosions, literally and figuratively. And he's a much better match for Miranda - two of a kind would be boring.

But.....I want a game where I can play as Miranda.

Valmy:I don't self-identify as feminist, but what else do you call saying a woman can be beautiful and good at her job and have power that's not derived from her husband/father? That she's allowed to like sex and this doesn't make her less worthy? I was arguing against things I'd actually heard.

I think you should start self-identifying as a feminist. :)

It's idiotic that people treat that word like a bad thing.  Respecting women as peers=feminism=not a bad thing.

I just really like the idea of Shep going on a tirade about "Heroic nonsense!! Hold the line!!" while Miranda just rolls her eyes and diplomatically advocates a more practical brand of heroism.

For some reason, it makes the idea of an ME1 Shep/Grunt/Garrus team really *funny*. The other two nutjobs would totally cramp poor Garrus' style.

It is only because feminism is a complicated academic discipline I do not really understand that well.

Besides, respecting women as equal to men is simply being a decent human being, there doesn't need to be some sort of special word for it.

It's like anything else, really.
The crazed ones give the sane ones a bad name.

Anyway, I'm off for a jog and then to my last two finals.

You guys have a good one.

There are plenty of non-decent human beings assigning pay grades and promotions.  There are still lots of issues of legitimate concern with regards to women's rights.  It's far better than it once was but it's not a won battle.

Edit: for the most part I don't think it's a malicious thing, though.  It's just that the way women get judged by both genders is different from the way men get judged and that equates to some very real issues.  Trying to overcome those issues is feminism.

Edit edit: PM sent to Ieldra.

@Ray Joel Oh:
I saw your post in the Garrus thread where you quoted mine. Consider its first sentence - do you really wonder, with all the hate regularly heaped on LI characters by a certain faction of gamers, that I went to the effort of creating three very short posts (and no user accounts) for a little symbolic comeuppance?

I don't see anything wrong with the word feminist. There are some misconceptions applied to the word and it's adherents, but that's not the most important. For most of human history, at least most of the most prolific civilizations (that's a lot of mosts) have had cultures in which women were of lesser political and social standing than men. If that were never the case, it seems likely that either the term would have never existed, or virtually non existent. There's still plenty of misogny and sexism in the world today. Most importantly, there are countries that have women with lesser (if at all) political and social rights. In that context, I see absolutely nothing wrong with it.
