We are dead today. So a bit of fun discussion.

What do Miranda and Shepard do as a couple when not saving the galaxy? Besides the obvious.

Miranda teaches Shepard to dance? Probably not.

Actually I think it's kind of sweet. And somebody has to teach the poor bloke how not to embarrass himself.

My head!Shep is something of an amateur photographer. Miranda models for him quite frequently. There always seems to be a certain...something to the woman in the photographs that she can't quite believe he sees in her.

Heh. That's rather sweet, really. Of course, Alan Shepard is an infiltrator, and probably quite uncomfortable looking at anyone he cares for through a lens.

My version? Fairly standard couple stuff - they could both use the normalcy. They curl up on the couch to watch Blasto, with Miri snarking incessantly for the duration and Shep finding creative and affectionate ways to ask her to shut up. Of course, that only really works once (until the inevitable sequel).

Next week, Miri picks the vid - maybe a 200 year old classic that Shep's never heard of, When Harry met Sally. (Yes, I reckon she's the type. So I think Miri has a couple of (well-hidden) stereotypically "girly" qualities. Sue me). Last week's roles are thus reversed - until ten minutes in, by which point Shep is at least as into it as she is.

All I've got just now. Thoughts?

Any idea how to get the hug posted in the original post of this thread? I romanced Miranda, and don't remember ever hugging her like that.

I don't think they are hugging. If I remember right she whispers somthing to him.

Right. Should've looked closer.

icarus, I'm just glad I'm not the only one who thinks Miranda provides running commentary during movies. Though I'm going say the movie she likes is The Princess Bride.

Never really thought about the lens thing. My Shep's an infiltrator too. Still like the idea of him being a photographer.

Actually, I think that's from the part where she tells you not to die.  If you say "No promises," they hug.

Hmm... I think I picked the Paragon option at that point, which definitely wasn't "No promises." I guess that explains it then.

I always imagine Shepard and Miranda being really competative with eachother, sort of like an "Anything You Can Do" type of thing, where they're constantly trying to find something else to compete over.

Why not both? While we're at it, we might as well toss in Casablanca and get the trifecta. And for the bonus round? Breakfast at Tiffany's! Man, those are some great movies.

(I'm a guy, I swear. I like Die Hard  too, y'know...)

Well, whatever works for you. Alan's a Ruthless Paragon, and understandably a bit touchy about Torfin. Probably would've been a perfectly normal guy, but he went into the family business (Spacer background) and the rest is history. He's nursing a mean case of survivor's guilt that he does his best to hide, with varying degrees of success. He considers every man he's lost a personal failure, and is still woken up occasionally by nightmares of Lieutenant Jacobs' brains being blown across his visor, over and over and over...

Heh. Ran off at the mouth (or fingers) a bit there, didn't I? What I meant to say is that it's all in how you play your Shep. If he doesn't automatically tense his trigger finger every time he looks into a piece of optical equipment, he's probably a much healthier man than Alan.

I love Casablanca. Best movie ever. I wonder if Miranda would like it?

My Shep isn't entirely same either. Sole Survivor. Undiagnosed PTSD Got a flashback on Tuchanka with the thresher maw and froze. Maranda saved his life. That was pretty much the moment he started to treat her as more than a Cerberus mouthpiece.

Weird. I saw my Shep as the same.

I think that movie would be her guilty pleasure.

The bit with the thresher maw, Vyn or just Sole Survivor with PTSD?

As far as the photography thing goes, he's a bit obsessed with getting a good shot of her. It offends his pride that he thought the photos turn out as good as he thinks they should. Then he's able to literally get her out of her uniform and into some casual clothes and he comes up with something good. The whole Cerberus thing creates a huge mental roadblock for him.

Both.

Shep as a photographer? Hm...hard to wrap my mind around it. He's more of a brutal artist like Samara says.

And here I thought I was being all original.

Well, it was either that or amateur magician, and being a photographer offered a bit more story potential. More intimate.

Maybe it's just me being a goofball, but I kinda want to see Shepard the amateur magician.

Lol, you are original Jtav. I haven't thought much about it. Shep as an amatuer magician? I think that would work well if he was a spacer or earthborn. Don't know how people would react to that though.
