Oh come now.  My biting wit and droll comments only enhance the cinematic experience.

You know those little marks on her jaw and her adorable crooked front teeth are what do it for me.  The more flawless the woman the more adorable her flaws I guess.

In your solely professional opinion of course. ;)

My appreciation of her is SOLELY for her brilliant acting abilities and anything you hear differently is a complete fabrication.

Almost done with my "kill 'em all" playthrough. Miranda comes off as extremely cold and ruthless, but she's also right: if I'd waited and done more loyalty missions, I'd survive. More to the point, I wouldn't be stuck doing the long walk with her and Tali and tearing my hair out. So maybe she isn't cold as much as practical.

Should be able to start work on the Miranda/Thane story tomorrow. You guys still want rough draft excerpts?

She thinks that it would be especially romantic if Miranda, with her abandonment issues, fell in love with the dying guy.

Ok it sounded more romantic when she pitched it.

Hmm...can't say that idea gets me much. Will probably pass on this one I'm afraid.

Or I'm an idiot. That's possible, too.

Why would you be an idiot? Writing has no bounds. If you want to write it, go for it. There will, of course, always be people who don't like your idea or it's execution, no matter what a writer writes. You can expect that some Miranda fans may not be as receptive to Miranda being paired with someone other than MShepard because in their minds, the "canon" is that Shepard got with Miranda, rather than someone else.

Hey, I wasn't putting you down or anything, just the story isn't for me is all. You're free to do whatever you like, as long as you enjoy it, doesn't matter what you write, right?

Definitely. It's always good to get another perspective other than the traditional Miranda/MShep pairing.

I actually posted before I read your post, andy. Slow typer. No doubt I'll come back to Miranda/Shep soon enough. He's just so bloody hard to write.

Here are a few points:
(1) I was drawn by her emotional detachment. I dislike how all too often being emotional is painted as some kind of virtue in a woman. Being the more careful type myself, I immediately connected with her.
(2) She's a woman with enough competence and confidence to stand up to you as Shepard. On the previous page, you said she insulted your pride. I feel the exact opposite: who wouldn't be flattered if a woman like Miranda showed interest? And as "Shepard the Hero" you should have enough confidence yourself to brush her more critical comments off with either a good counterargument (even if the game doesn't let you, do it in your mind), or an amused smile if appropriate.
(3) This confidence and competence also gives her an impressive presence. Forgive me for being poetic, but she'll never be only another's satellite, always a star in her own right.
(4) This makes me feel that she actually adds something to Shepard in the romance, that Miranda/Shepard as a whole is not only more than Shepard alone, but more than the sum of its parts. Is Tali/Shepard significantly more than Shepard alone? Is Jack/Shepard? I don't think so.
(5) I appreciate her ruthlessness. A refreshing change from those fictional women who always push the hero to the less controversial, Paragon decisions.
(6) There's the physical, of course. She's beautiful.
(7) For the romance: she's human. It's a factor for me.

Fair enough, those traits don't really appeal to me but I could see why others do. Anyway, back to giving her a chance. I just brought her with me on the Collector ship mission. Once again the "...They're going to attack Earth..." thing gave me fits. What a stupid comment.Image IPB I did like however when she got flustered when the Illusive Man screwed them over. I could sympathize with her there.

To be fair, one of your teammates will always make that comment about Earth. Miranda just happened to occupy the slot on your playthrough.

Vyn: I have got it into my head to write a Miranda/Thane story. Ms. "So don't die" falling for the dying man? I find it romantic.

Nightwriter: Shep is not so much a character as a Marty Stu avatar for players. I have to work overtime to make him interesting. Never cared much for action heroes and find him a bit dull. I like my head!Shep, but I had to be a bit subversive to create him.

Oh, I know, it was actually Thane this time who made the comment. It just ticks me off whenever I hear it.Image IPB

Really? I guess I'm different. Every time I write him I always find him very interesting to write - I guess I just had this idea in my head of what my personal male Shep was like and it was always easy to portray that person.

So is this why you're doing a Miranda/Thane thing, then? Because you find Shepard boring?

Shepard as is isn't that interesting. If you put context and background to how he acts however, he can be. It's truly as boring or as interesting as you make him.

That's what I think as well. I have a whole backstory thought up for my main Shepard. I love playing him.
