Not if you're familiar with the system and have a nice software tool that automatically adds it all up, including influences of one trait on the other. Also, it seems I have a knack for memorizing rules systems, be it in math or in games.Jebel Krong wrote...
sounds like far too much hard work, Ieldra.
As for Miranda, making this stuff up helps me to get her personality and skills together in one place. If I go into the details. Which I usually do.

Miranda has something of a singularity: once you're caught, there is no escape.
I also realized I've had a Miranda desktop for two months now....

Ah, I simply disagree. That scene was hurting for dialogue - the fact that it was the ONLY romance scene without dialogue made it stand out even more as the "simply sexual" romance.
In a romance that I'd just like to see more depth out of, I would've liked something to be said. It already was in danger of feeling fling-y. Also: dialogue didn't kill the romantic mood in the ME1 scenes.
It wasn't in danger of being fling-y at all. Do you blab on constantly in your intimate moments? All that needed to be said had already been said. If there was anything fling-y about it, you made it up because it sure wasn't present anywhere in the dialog or the actions of the characters.
Please point out the dialog once the physical encounter started in the ME1 scene. Oh wait there was none. I guess that scene was a fling also.

What do you mean? How was it strong?
The three conversations before it which built up an emotional connection and expressed the fear she felt for having feelings for somebody when their lives were in danger.

... Since I feel quite surprised that you and others would say such a thing, I feel it's probably apparent that I didn't get the same impression.
I by no means felt like the whole romance was over and done with before the suicide mission, or that we'd said everything there was to say, or that all the build up there could ever be had already happened and there was no point having a single extra line of dialogue.
The romance progression felt pretty normal to me - so it stuck out when there was no dialogue.
Yeah I didn't get that at all.
But I do think it is just a bit ridiculous to then take that one issue and then come up with a baseless and absurd claim that means it was all about sex or that is was a fling. I would think a claim like that would require evidence from a conversation supporting it, not a guess based on the fact you wanted more conversation at one point.

And that's a good interpretation, I respect that. I guess that, for me personally, I didn't feel any overwhelming buildup of tension - tension buildup happens for me during the pre-sex dialogue. Does that make sense?
The last conversations were supposed to supply that. I guess it would have worked out for you better if that conversation had happened right before the sex scene instead, that would probably be better pacing. I said that earlier in the thread actually, that it just felt silly to reach the point of intimacy and then wait until the last mission.
So there was pre-sex dialog just not immediately pre-sex. What I do not see is how this magically means it was all about sex and fling-y when that directly contradicts everything said in the romance. Still waiting for some actual evidence for that claim.

Yes, I'm just going over that discussion. There isn't any power in the argument that she is a virgin. During that discussion she was also referred to as a "badass angel". I really like that. It deserves to be remembered. (Ugh. finished going over the first 100 pages. This is work, people).ComTrav wrote...

And btw, I also read you promised us a fanfic. IIRC, that never appeared? Or did I miss it?

It just occurred to me how much Kazem el Saher looks like VanderShep, at least in this video.
And I'm sure there's no argument here that Miranda is a "flower, a basil, a ruby, a Sultana, a famous, and the legitimate queen among all queens."
(Further: Arabian Nights themed RPG is at the top of my list of about ten-games I'd like Bioware or someone to make.)

I'm actually working on it now, lol. I wanted to read more of other fanfic to see if I was doing certain things proper to the genre (especially re: biotics), but I decided I should just write the thing while it's in my mind again. Ialso had to think a little bit about Trevor Shepard, role-playing Travis Shepard is one thing, writing him is a little different. (Travis is my IRL name, and I can't write someone who has my name, that's just a little weird for me.)
I still need to come up with a decent "Virmire Choice" situation. And right now I have basically one short story-type deal, which I would sorta like to deal with another short-story type-deal so I can deal with Shepard/Miranda/Ashley.

Remember in the early age of the thread when people would post music videos of songs that reminded them of the Miranda/Shepard relationship?
Somehow my sound is off here. I'll listen to it later. But that looks great. And I'm sure there's no argument here that Miranda is a "flower, a basil, a ruby, a Sultana, a famous, and the legitimate queen among all queens."
I second that. But first finish ME3 and continue the DAO saga.Further: Arabian Nights themed RPG is at the top of my list of about ten-games I'd like Bioware or someone to make.

That used to happen with jtav, back when we were talking about details of Miranda's personality. But since talk has shifted more to her role in the story and she's started to post some of her weirder ideas, things have gotten more balanced.
What? Honestly, you say you like the idea you like her with the alien and people think you've lost it
Or is this about the Miranda-as-villain thing? I don't think she would make a good villain now. But if we weren't stuck with H.P. Lovecraft in space, I would have preferred her or an antagonist like her. The Reapers are so alien that I don't really care about them and wish they'd go away so I could concentrate on the plots I care about.
