Ashley, Kaidan, and Liara were sidelined in order for guaranteed survival for ME3. And when put things into perspective, had they been squad mates, they would also probably be romances. And when put that in perspective, that would mean that the ME2 romances would be at a disadvantage - Liara would have 3 games of romance, Miranda 2. It's also easier on the writers to write two levels of romance progression for each character.

So do you think that in ME3, romances from ME1 and 2 will be open to new players?

No

See, I'm not sure about this. This is the most economical way for them to have an LI in ME3 for someone who doesn't import without adding new characters.

They would have to write new romances. It would be very different, for example, the romance if you imported the Miranda romance from ME2 or the Miranda romance from a default Shepard in ME3, wouldn't it? The former has precedence, the latter doesn't. You would need to record new lines, animations, and writers would have to write lines. That does not come for free.

Either that or have brand new LIs and that would just start to get ridiculous.  There are already a mindblowing 9.

Honestly people who play ME3 should play the first 2 anyways.

Well some people may already have but want to try a new character in ME3.

Oh God. I just watched the interview all the way through for the first time. That was the most awkward, uncomfortable thing ever.

"You know most of the people in this audience have had virtual sex with you?"

"Can I buy you a beer later? Yes? No?"

"Do you know about the sex scene? Have you actually seen it? Here it is, look, we can play it right now."

"Oh, here's the good part - ohhhh, yeah..."

"So tell me, your body in this sex scene - how accurate is it?"

*facepalm*

The most shocking part was Yvonne Strahovski bringing up French kissing... don't encourage him, Yvonne!

I see your point, but it still seems cheaper then creating a whole new character. On the other hand, Bioware does love creating new characters, and if they're going to add someone new in anyway, they might as well make them an LI.

It would just be hard having a new LI in the last game of the trilogy...

This is much more likely to me. But ideally, I don't want them to create any new romances, and instead just focus on the ones they have. There were no romances in Dragon Age Awakening so it's not like to have make new ones.

She was just trying to be a good sport.  She endured that with a stunning amount of class and grace.

Yeah, you're right. There at the end it was really bad for her. She handled it pretty well.

I guess I just do not get what that interviewer was trying to do besides make gamers look like horny idiots without any social skills.  He asked her nothing about the game or her career or anything anybody would want to hear about.

He was just an awful representative of the gaming world... where are all the female gamers? They should be doing some interviews.

I'd've gotten more out of it if Jessica Chobot had been doing it instead of Sir-Creeps-a-Lot. They'd ask the good questions.

How he acted is how I imagine many or most gamers are (of the male sex, anyway)

Well, I have to admit if I met Yvonne, it would be a little awkward.

"Hey, I have a photobucket that's like two thirds you slash Miranda, and about one third World War II stuff."

Literally, adjacent to each other on my photobucket. I need to organize it. But I sorta like the idea of the Big Three setting aside their disagreeements to destroy fascism and talk about how awesome Yvonne is.

Yea, but a female interviewer is much less likely to be saying those things in general.

True but I like good interviews by talented interviewers not merely interviews less likely to be absolutey horrible.  If female interviewers are more likely to give good interviews than sure.

Well yes but we are big fanboys and have no experience or skill doing interviews Posted Image

I would certainly go out of my way in my awkward way of trying to say I really like her as an actress and try to show some respect.

Well I was saying they'd be less likely to focus on sex and ogling of female characters, and therefore would focus on more interesting and important questions.

I realize that may have come out a bit sexist. I didn't mean for it to. No, honestly!

Well naturally it is more likely a male interviewer would do that to a female interviewee.  I was merely saying I hope the standards for picking interviewers is based on being a good interviewer not simply less likely to say something embarassing and inappropriate and do a horribly awkward interview. You are of course right, Valmy. Quality is most important.

I shouldn't generalize men, I know... I know some great guys who hate it when I do that when I'm not thinking, it's not fair to them if some guys are sexual pigs.

Hey for that matter, does Miranda strike you as the kind of woman who might make little dry "men" comments under her breath?

Poor kraidy. He's been banned from the forums and now he's hanging out in the Miranda thread over in the character discussion group.

I think I'm going to go keep him company.
