So... new character... new new romance capability for my shephard other than once again hooking up with Miranda. I want my new characters to be different, but it's like Miranda is like a vortex that sucks my interest in.

:lol::lol::lol:

Why am I not surprised? It takes superhuman strength of will to resist Miranda....you know, she's made for it.:P

She's even harder to resist if you've seen Yvonne Strahovski in person.  DAMN.

I don't think that would change anything for me. Yvonne Strahovski may be a talented actress and beautiful, but she's not Miranda Lawson. I wish people wouldn't always conflate actor and character.<_<

Miranda is very hard to resist. Of course, I tend to go to the other extreme and wonder if she can't do a bit better than Shep. If I could transpose my main Warden into the ME universe, I would.

No, but it's like reading a book.  If you've got a good visual in person image to work with, your imagination can really fill in the blanks.
Wait...they may not have been exactly how I meant that to come across.
Basically...ahh screw it.
I was trying to agree with you.
I think these threads have been trolled so much everything is viewed as a potential disagreement.  Yvonne = Miranda = Both iressitably attractive.

You didn't mean you supplant the images of what you do not see of Miranda with corresponding images of Yvonne?:P

No no, no troll accusation here. I'm just looking for things I can disagree with because I'll then have something to post.

Anyway, the difference is: Yvonne Strahovski is very beautiful, but I know very little of what she's like so I can't say if she'd be attractive if I met (and not just saw) her. Miranda looks good but is not as beautiful (if only because of the limitations of game graphics), but I know important aspects of her personality, which in combination make her hard to resist.

So, no conflation for me. Not even much support from that side for my appreciation of Miranda.

Seriously, I'm in one of my sympathetic moods regarding Miranda. It's Shep I want to push off a cliff.

Probably your reasons are different from mine, but yes, there are times I want to do that, too. How Miranda puts up with the man is a mystery.

Why do you want to push him off a cliff or think that? Please explain.

It's kind of strange you two hate character that you have almost complete control of.

They overdid the "badass" aspect and the format of the game doesn't allow me to mold him as much as I'd like, but there are too many blanks for him to be really interesting. Emotional range of a teaspoon.

Hello all. I think I'm going to get out the ol'Save Editor today and run through the romance scene/collector mission with Miranda and a FemShep. Haven't done it yet, wanna check to see if any of the dialogue (aka subtitles, since they aren't voiced) is different.

I'd say the blanks make it easier to be interesting, as you can write what you want. They're there because at the end of the day, player characters are blank slates. Games developers can give you a rough framework to start, but the fine strokes are up to the player. You don't like something about Shepard, change it. Why should the format of the game make a difference to your story? It's useful backdrop - but that's all it is. The only limits are what you impose on yourself. You want Shepard to have more of an emotional range, he can - it's your story after all! Don't get too hung up on his portrayal in the game or treat it as unimpeachable gospel - no two ME games will be exactly the same and no two people will get exactly the same thing out of it.

Yes, the overdone badass aspect is my main complaint. Can't agree about the blanks, though. It leaves holes for your imagination to fill. It would be very much worse if they didn't exist.

I don't know what the format of the game (what is that, btw?) has to do with it.

I'm loving my fictional Shep right now. I've figured out that sweet spot for me where I've turned down the two-dimensional "superhero-ism" enough and started tearing him down. I have to agree about in-game Shepard though. He's either an unrealistic white knight, capable of maintaining absolute emotional control at all times, or a homicidal maniac who just doesn't care about anything. Yeh, as a player you can mix the two extremes, but it's difficult to properly roleplay Shepard at the time.

How about I pose a question? If Miranda was in Mass Effect one and was a cameo in Mass Effect 2 pulling the same stunt Ash and Kaidan pulled would you continue the romance? Or move on to someone else?

I would continue the romance. The character is so amazing, it will be very difficult for Bioware to create an another one who could make me abandon her.

Grrr (no I'm still on). My favorite hate topic. Do. Not. Mention. It.

Yes, I'd continue the romance and completely ignore any new characters as far as I can. I'd also post frequent rants on the forums until they decide to ban me as a troll.

Just as a reminder: one of the points of this thread's existence is to make this situation as much of a non-option for Bioware as we can.

Yannkee, I aggree. Miri was just a well-done and amazing character. I would stay loyal to her. The only reason why I did not stay loyal to Ash was because, well of Miri :wizard:. However, if somehow Bastila came into ME universe (tho Miri is pretty much the Bastila of the ME universe) then I would go with Bastila :P oh and night Ieldra.
