I'm trying to write down a timeline of events in Miranda's biography, based on facts and plausible speculation. Here is what I have so far:

First, the two events we know are facts:
2150 Miranda born
2166 Oriana born

Since we have established that Miranda probably ran away from home and came back later for Oriana, she must have run away from home before Oriana was born. On the other side, I can't see her run away long before she was 16, so I'm going to put her "gunshot parting" with her father in 2166, her coming back fpr Oriana in 2167. jtav has made the suggestion that she might have spent some time on Omega. I'll include this for the simple reason that I like it and assume she's been on Omega between first running away and coming back for Oriana. I also assume she made contact with Cerberus to protect her sister rather than for herself, so I'll put her first contact with Cerberus in 2167 as well.
After that, it remains to be established when Miranda got her biotic abilities. They key date for discovery of human biotics is 2158, when the potential was discovered and tracking of eezo exposure began. Gagarin station was established in 2160. Miranda's father wouldn't have waited long to use experimental procedures on his daughter, so I'm going to assume that she got "treated" with eezo in some experimental procedure (possibly adapted from the krogan) in 2159 (earlier than two years after first contact seems unlikely). Since early training seems to be important, biotic implants would've come not too much later, at the very latest before the onset of puberty. Let that be 2160.

So, here's a possible timeline of events in Miranda's biography:

2150 Miranda is born
2159 Miranda undergoes an experimental surgical procedure involving, among other things, the infusion of her brain with eezo particles, to make her a biotic.
2160 Miranda gets her biotic implants and starts to be trained in their use by private instructors.
2166 Miranda runs away from home, involving a "parting with gunshots" from her father. Trying to get as far away as she can from his influence, she eventually reaches Omega.
2166 Oriana is born.
2167 Miranda returns to Earth to get Oriana away from their father. She makes contact with Cerberus and agrees to join them under the condition that they help Oriana to vanish from their father's eyes. Oriana is given to be adopted by an unknown family.
2183 Cerberus' Lazarus cell is established, and Miranda starts her work on bringing Commander Shepard back to life. Miranda acts as informant for Jacob Taylor in a counter-terrorist operation on the Citadel, preventing the assassination of the Citadel Council.
2185 Miranda joins Commander Shepard in his mission against the Collectors

This looks about reasonable, I think. Note that I have, again, taken some liberty with the biotics timeline. L2 were implanted from 2167 onwards, but they had to be implanted before puberty (it was the drawback of the L1 version that they were not). I gather from that that getting implants early before puberty is a key factor if you're to develop strong biotic abilities at all. So Miranda's first implants must have been irregular ones, possibly not used elsewhere because of some unpleasant side effects. The timeline also implies that Miranda got new implants (which we've considered likely) while already being with Cerberus. The implant version Miranda has got now is pure speculation - it could be a stable L2 or an L4, but the latter would have been implanted after 2176, when Miranda was 26. My personal opinion is that Cerberus gave her implants custom-made for her when she was biologically grown up. They don't seem to skimp with resources for their top people, and biotics was always a major field of Cerberus research.

Anything to add? Contradictions? Opinions?

Ieldra, you should probably add the events of Galaxy to the 2183 section.

And, if I can pick on you for something you said in another thread, it's not so inccomprehensible to like Miranda, but not particularly care for her as a LI. I found her romance moderately unsatisfying because it was so short and because I felt like most of her good character development moments are outside the romance (the exeception being her asking you to promise you won't die). I'll still import my Shepard who romanced her into ME3 first because a romance will mean more Miranda content. But I liked Thane's romance more, even though I still find Miranda a more interesting character.

Done. If anyone has played ME:Galaxy (I haven't got the necessary hardware), tell me if the once-sentence description is correct.

Reading over Ieldra's timeline, it strikes me how little we know about her. For all the talk about her "whining" she goes into remarkably little detail about her life before Cerberus.

Hell, I didn't even knew her brain was infused with eezo to make her biotic. I thought she was created with the biotic powers, looks and skills already. Like Grunt.

Ah, that "incomprehensible" part was not completely serious (I only didn't add a smiley because smileys in paragraphs disrupt the flow of text), and meant those who like Miranda not at all or only somewhat. I'd like Miranda just as much without the romance, even though were there not a romance, I would wish for one.

Born with the looks: mostly yes. You still have to maintain them.
Born with biotics: Impossible, since biotics were not known to humans in 2150 when she was born.
Born with skills: no. Born with improved mental acuity, and the potential to learn fast and easily. Most skills can't be innate, they have to be acquired.

Re: Grunt:
Grunt's brain was imprinted while his body grew to adulthood in the tank. Miranda was actually born and grew up like other children, only her genes were made.

And reading about other characters, it strikes me how much we know about Miranda, or can deduce, in comparison to almost every other squadmate.

Good work Ieldra, well done. Also about Grunt, while both where made to be perfect Miri was made to grow like a real human. She was most likely born from a sturgated(sp) mother similar to Solid and Liquid snake. While Grunt was not. In fact Miri kinda reminds me of Bobo Fett from Star Wars. Jango wanted a clone not to be altered but to grow like a normal being so he could have a son, this is similar to Miri. Mr.Lawson wanted her to grow like a normal human but also made it possible for her to live a long time.

Anybody else wish we could hear some "war stories" about Miranda's time with Cerberus? Also, besides Jacob, who of the crew could plausibly become her friend? My gut says Thane, Mordin, and Tali. Maybe Samara, but Miranda is almost certainly deserving of death according to the Code. That complicates things.

I kinda wished we would have heard some the project she worked on in the past, we know they where successful because she is still alive. If a Cerberus project goes bad, the operatives die half the time.

looks like the voting is done on my poll for the Collector Chronicles.By my surprise with 33% of the vote goes to "not even if they pay me", which means 21 out of 63 voted for this out of 5 choices.

It got me thinking if commander Jacob would the have even made it to the collector base? If Jacob was in charge you'd only have three extra companions being Miranda,Mordin, and Samara.

That's what our Miranda biography is missing. Also she must have had higher education somewhere while she was with Cerberus, and you don't get that easily with private instructors. Probably combined studies with undercover work. A lot of story hooks there, and she could have honed her spy skills there as well.

Mordin, definitely. They're two of a kind.
Thane, I can see that, surprisingly, though it's based on a hunch and I have no idea why yet. Must think on it more.
Tali, not so easy, Cerberus and quarians have some antagonism to overcome.

Mordin is the big one. Both have alot of common and both respect each other. Both will do what is needed to be done. Just look at Mordin and the Genophage, yes he kinda regrets what he did but it had to be done, same with Miri. There is probably somethings she has done in her life that had to be done but she regrets.

Does anyone have a picture of Tali or Jack cuddling with Shepard modded to look like the illusive man?

I think she could really use a friend. My "canon" universe has her killing Niket herself, not speaking to Oriana, and not being all that close to Shep. So I worry about her.

Er, sorry? I also have playthroughs were she did speak to Oriana (and even in my "canon" world, I like to imagine she'll eventually speak to her). I do prefer her to be the one to kill Niket because her fury toward Enyala is more controlled. And most of my Sheps are too by-the-book to get along with her especially well. Miserable Miranda provides more story hooks anyway.

Omg. I have no idea how you could possibly live with that being your canon world.

Anyway there were several instances initially that really surprised me when I was talking to Miranda.

1. When she said she was modified for the first time: "Not my choice, but there you go." I was very surprised, from the pre-release hype I had definitely gotten the impression it was her choice.

2. "Well I guess it's only fair. I've spent two years learning everything I could about you."

This really took me aback, too. I thought she was just rebuilding me, I didn't know it was so extensive. It also seemed like a really strange line to just leave hanging out there, and they never went back to it. I was like, seriously? She spent two years familiarizing herself with all these intimate details... and we just leave that there?

It would be better if during romance dialogue Miranda admits she is curious about certain aspects of your file she's been wondering about and starts questioning you about them.

Well Miri has seen pretty much everything about Shepard, more then she would let on. Shepard was blasted to pretty much nothing, read the comic, they can't even tell if it's Shepard anymore or if it's male or female.

Because I plan on fixing it later, if only in my head?

1. Did the impression from her character trailer? I need to watch it.

2. I'd like to see it expanded on myself. She could only get so much infor from psych evals and other sources. How does the real man compare.

Yeah, the impression came from the trailers and just generally from talk and speculation on the forums. Nothing in the marketing of her character even hinted that she didn't want this. She was just "the perfect woman".

And I agree, seriously, there's a huge opportunity here to show how Miranda reacts to the person Shepard after she's been reading up on the file Shepard for two years. Even if you didn't romance her, or you're female, I feel like that's something that should be brought up.

But what does that have to do with them never addressing the fact that Miranda has such intimate knowledge of Shepard?

I missed the media blitz completely. I gather she was presented as a ruthless ice queen? She's almost ridiculously warm in the game if you treat her well. She's so loyal and generous with her affections once she's given them. Romanced Shep is one lucky guy.

Since Miranda is genetically engineered, she likely has a genius-level intellect. I can easily see her being like those prodigies today, kids who finished a doctorate before they even turn 20. If this is the case, it's possible she completed her higher education even before she ran away from her father.

I never thought about this but now that you mentioned it, Night, I'm curious about it too. However, "learning everything I could about you" might not be very extensive. I'm guessing this would only include what Cerberus could learn through sources in the public domain and hacking Alliance/Council records. Miranda's knowledge of Shepard might be limited to psych evaluations and service records. If Shepard comes from the Colonist or Earthborn backgrounds, it's likely that even the Alliance has very little information on his preservice history.

It really depends on what kind of Shepard Miranda is dealing with. My Shepard comes from a true cloak-and-dagger background (black ops, wetwork, unsanctioned missions, etc.) so even Alliance records about his activities are very spares. I explored this a bit in my prequel where Miranda notes that even though she has spent so much time studying Shepard's past, she still knows virtually nothing about the man behind the legend.
