As long as she is a squadmate and her romance is continued and gets good lcosure then I don't care. I don't want a cameo like Liara or Ash or a stupid email.

You know what really bugs me? Miranda is so hard to get killed that probably not more than 0.001% of all players have done that. So she can't have a plot-critical role in ME3 because of 0.001% of all ME2 players. Even worse, I'm willing to bet they're almost all on these forums, so they'll raise hell if their games' continuity suffers.
Well....they could get a clone.

That deserves to be quoted. I think it's safe to say we take our stories seriously as far as any game's story can be taken seriously in the first place. And that includes the romances. If we're fobbed off with any sort of cheap solution for the sake of new players it will be a serious flaw in the whole experience.Pwnisher wrote...

The problem is that if a character doesn't have only its own story, but is part of the main plot, it's difficult to adapt the story to the absence of that character. And it gets more difficult the more integral to the story (s)he is. For instance, it would be easy to cut something like Miranda's loyalty mission if she were not present, but to simply cut her out of the prologue would be impossible.kraidy1117 wrote...
Ugh this is what ******'s me off, if some dies then you should miss out on the story. If you killed someone off, then should suffer. It's harder to get people killed then get everyone out alive, not to mention you have to work to kill off Miri, plus there's Legion who has so many variables.
What I can see as a workable solution is something like this: if we have Miranda with us, we will get an extra mission about Cerberus, and we'll have the option to either force TIM to do something big for us or take over the whole organization. That could be done plausibly regardless of the decision about the base. If we don't have Miranda with us, we won't get that mission and won't have any influence on how Cerberus acts in the plot. That way Miranda will be important, but not critical to the plot. If they make Miranda survive in the default game, new players will also get all of the content and only miss out on the romance. The only group of players who would lose out on story content would be those who got her killed in ME2, but since she can be pretty much only be killed on purpose that's acceptable. Consequences.

Well, the story's "done" after a fashion. My actual plot continues to frustrate me, but the rewrite of the scene from the comic stands well enough on its own. I still want to do proper Miranda/Liara though. Just need an actual story that doesn't require Shepard to be a monster.
And why is it so difficult to include a more friendly Shepard?

Characters/Pairings: Miranda and Liara gen. Mentions of Liara/Male Shepard
Rating: PG for some violent imagery.
Word count: 1650
Summary: Liara wrestles with her guilt at handing Shepard toCerberus. She and
Miranda discuss their next steps. Spoilers for Redemption.
And now to work on the Miranda/Thane story. Where Shep will be more charming and he and Miranda will eventually become friends.

I like it. As I said from the excerpt, Miranda is perfect, and it's a nice scene to explain Liara's transformation. A nitpick: there's a typo left in the last multi-line paragraph, where it says "Powerful people owed her favors" - at least I think that's what you wanted to say...jtav wrote...

I think the fact that she is more likely to survive and her ties to Cerberus makes her having a larger role in ME3 than other squad mates like say Jack, Thane, Jacob, etc quite possible. The Cerberus subplot will most likely be a notable part of ME3 and I expect Miranda and to a lesser extent Jacob to take an appropriate role.Ieldra2 wrote...

Well....they could get a clone.
Basically, what I see for ME3 is that certain missions are flavoured depending on who is alive or is with you. Miranda/Jacob/Ashley/Kaidan spice up the Cerberus/Alliance subplot, Tali/Legion the Geth-Quarian subplot, Mordin/Grunt/Wrex the Genophage-Krogan subplot.
Those are the most prominent and important subplots, but I could see some things like Jack & Cerberus, Thane & the Hanar/Drell, Zaeed & the Blue Suns, Samara & the Asari, and Kasumi & the Alliance.
In some cases, having these squad mates alive means you have extra options for the missions associated. I imagine, for example, that Miranda's insider information about Cerberus and her espionage abilities would be useful should you resign from Cerberus at least.
Certainly you are going to need Legion (I also don't imagine that the Flotilla would be happy w/Tali dead) if you want peace between the Geth and the Quarians (which would be useful for using both as allies against the Reapers).
Mordin seems critical if you want to have the genophage cured (or modified). Wrex will most likely lead the Krogan into a state where the elimination of the genophage would be the least dangerous.
So if those squad mates aren't alive, you still in some shape or form do those missions, but you may not have the full experience and most likely wouldn't have the same list of choices.
