Heh. I'm reminded of what I've just written in a review, particularly that the words "I love you" have been overused so much that they've lost any meaning, and I'd prefer to use something else to express love. But yes, I'd like to see our Shepard and Miranda express what they feel for each other in an unmistakeable way, and have the prospect of a future together, while the particular kind of future should remain cloudy so that everyone can insert his or her own interpretation. I, for instance, wouldn't go for marriage - my vision would include something akin to what I've written on page 117.

I don't want to see the whole big house in the suburbs, great kids, perfect mariage kind of ending. That would be kind of lame to me. I like your idea, though, Ieldra. It's hard for me to imagine what I'd do (as Shepard) after the fighting's over.

If Miranda somehow dies in ME 3, I'm likely going to choose the sacrifice ending, assuming it's an option.

Re: what we want to see in ME 3

I want the same thing for Miranda as for any other romance: the possibility of a meaningful and lasting relationship. I don't want it to be a fling (though that can be an option). I want the implication that they intend on staying together for the foreseeable future. I want to say "I love you" and mean it and hear it in return.

Is that too much to ask?

I want the exact same thing. I want it to FEEL like they REALLY love each other. I want all the romantic gestures in. I want emotional hugging, I want to see the emotion and feel it in their eyes, in their faces. I want touching, I want cute and adorable lines between them.

I want Shep's hand to go through Miri's hair, I want nose touching even lol. I want to see Shepard touch her lips with his thumb, etc etc. I want it all damn it!!

Sorry to disagree, but no, I don't want that. Or not exactly that. I do want their love to come at me out of the screen, yes, but I want something subtle. I don't want their feelings sullied by lines that have been said a hundred thousand times in a hundred thousand romances, robbing them of all uniqueness and significance. I don't wan't a typical romance, I want a unique one. I want their feelings to be expressed by something that's completely their own.

Oh, I agree that the phrase ca be overused and writers should strive to be more creative, but it can still be effective if used sparingly and they haven't been use at all in the enire trilogy. And Miranda doesn't strrike me as having much trouble saying it once she's decide she does love him.

I almost wish I hadn't cut the scene where Shep essentially says I love you by telling her to use his first name, but it makes more sense for the story to end with them temporarily estranged.

The amount of times I've been turned down because I'm a nice guy is unbelievable.  Every woman I've ever had feelings for, bar two, have turned me down because I'm too good a friend.  And with the two I did manage to get with, the break ups were crappy on me but fine for them.  They'd moved on inside a fortnight each!

Nice guys really do finish last it seems. :crying:

Sure,  I don't really want cliche lines either, I just want it to SHOW. I mean really show. You're right that they have a very unique relationship and express themselves and their feelings in their own unique ways as opposed to other characters.

But I still don't think it would be bad if they expressed themselves (at least in the physical sense) in the manners I described. That's intimacy on a deep level. Pictures are worth a thousand words right? Physical gestures, looks, moves, body language, etc are also worth a thousand words too, in my opinion.

Well I'm nice and pretty nerdy at times, yet I always get crapped on because I'm not a bad boy!  No fair!

You're quite correct. Still, there can be too much sweetness in such a scene, particularly for characters like Miranda and Shepard. Some gestures are appropriate, others not. I do think Bioware have the ability to come up with something fitting, though. The only question is how they envision possible endings.
