Here in California we call it soda and when someone from the south or Canada comes around asking for "pop" it takes us a while to figure out what they're talking about.

And Luton still dreary darth? lol, used to go there one a fortnight on work about 6 years ago hehe....hated the place (though the drive was fun, got me out of the office for the day )

Still dull, yes.  Though I've found other towns in the area worse, so I can't complain too much.  At least not as much as I'd like to.

I remember when I was on a flight to US 16 years ago and air host was asking if wanted a drink and I said Cola (as in coca-cola) and he looked at me gone out, so then I said coke and he was like "Aah coke..." he then decided it be funny to make fun of me saying cola. So after that I grew acclimatised to drinking Dr Pepper as there was no way they weren't going to get confused with me saying that huh.

Oh and to answer the 'age old' question, I was 18 at the time but it isn't my birthday yet (decides to let a bright spark do the math)
