I think the only time you can do it is the second conversation after picking up Liara.  If you tell Liara you're not interested before going to speak to Ash you don't get the option, so you need to speak to Ash first and then go tell Liara you're not interested.

You could always just...cheat?  If you're having multiple playthroughs anyway would it really be the end of the world if you cheat on one of them?

Why did you speak with Ashley at all, shinobi? When I want to make sure nothing happens between Shepard and a character, I don't speak to them, or at least don't ever choose the "personal talk" options. Especially if this is just a prologue playthrough for ME2.

If it's any consolation shin, Virmiring her works pretty well for ME2.  If you don't romance the Horizon character then you get a handshake when you meet, and having seen the Ash version of it on youtube it just seems...off.  Having Kaidan for that scene just works better.

I already have one ME2 playthrough where I'm loyal to Ash.
Another where I cheated on her with Miri
And now I'm trying to get one where Shep stays single in ME1 and is guilt free going into ME2.

I was trying to get some extra paragon points from conversations you have with your squadmates when you're on the ship. Learned my mistake. This time I won't talk to anybody lol.

I know, but I like Ash. Kaidan....not so much lol. 

It's alright. One last playthrough of ME1 can't hurt I guess. I'll just play through it on casual. Only takes like 8 hours anyway.
