I liked that thread and have read it too. If this is actually the way they intend it then I wish they made attempts to hint/nudge in that direction. Alternatively, the game could of been made expressely as Shephard's sense of his surroundings in which stuff like that remains completely invisible to him, but personally I think that falls down in such a rich story driven environment.gutty47 wrote...
Showing the council as not completely braindead is easily the better option from a story perspective. You can't run a galaxy for so long and not have some sort of intelligence. Someone posted a 'Diary of the Turian Councilor' that described this alternate position and it was a fascinating bit of fanfic. I've lost the link to it though.
I agree to a degree. What I wouldn't want to see for example is an 'OR' situation like in DA:O, i.e., you recruit either the Templar's or the Mages, Werewolves or the Dalish. I mean, it's a threat to all sentinent space-faring life, that's a pretty big deal and I admit I'm an incredible optimist in thinking people would unite if only to deal with this and then settle back into their petty disputes.gutty47 wrote...
As to having Shepard go off the deepend... I don't think I can properly speculate about how this would work without having more knowledge of the ME3 storyline. If we assume the DA:O style army recruitment then Shepard would need to essentially earn loyalties all over again and it could be integral. Other story ideas would require different levels of involvement.
I'd like to see a situation where the Quarian and the Geth reinforce each other against a Reaper attack for example. Or a Turian warship maneouvres aggressively to close with the enemy forcing the Krogan to cease fire so that they don't potentially divide the Turian centre etc.
I like your final ideas if only there was some reason to prevent that result (I like happy endings, even if it makes me naive in always wanting them... I think they should take more effort to get, but I would hope they're attainable)gutty47 wrote...
I agree with all these points. Given that Bioware aren't going to tinker much with the engine, completely different outcomes based on both ME1 and ME2 decisions should hopefully be implemented. I'd also like to see detrimental results based on the quarian/geth and krogan/genophage decisions. For example: if Shepard bribes the krogan with the genophage cure, after the reaper battle the krogan could start repopulating at an alarming rate. History repeating itself with the Krogan Rebellions. The quarian and geth could also end in war after the reaper invasion or the geth could be enslaved or even the have the geth destroy the migrant fleet in their own pre-emptive strike (this last one is my personal favourite, the quarians got what they deserved during the Morning War ... but I digress).
Not necessarily a couple of interactive 'action boxes' like dialogue points or mineral points like in ME2 to cause scripted events to occur... such as the heavy crane rotating, pressing it again when the Maw is underneath it causes it to collapse onto it, smooshing it into paste.gutty47 wrote...
The 'inventive ways' does seem like it would require additional work that would only be in select levels. The warhero and ruthless backgrounds only require combat. Optimistically I would hope for the background levels to be included but the pragmatist in me says it won't happen.

I've probably missed some points but walls of text are hard to reply to properly and in full.:innocent:
Heh sorry, I just like our conversations
