Well Spacer Shepard followed his parents around on warships and space stations as they served out their military careers (and his mother is STILL in the military...I mean she has had what? A 40 year career?)

I suspect if Miranda becomes an actual mother she could take her kids along with her as she carries out whatever projects and missions she is doing. Her obsession with having a regular family may inspire her to stay put for awhile and try at being "conventional" for awhile. Though I think her boundless energy and need to be challenged would make that fairly short lived...which is not to say raising children is not challenging or doesn't drain energy...but it is not that mentally stimulating.

Thats why if they have a kid, it will most likely be like a spacer Shepard who was raised on ships his whole life.

Anyways you also have to put the fact that Miri might die in ME3, if so I hope Shepard can commit suicde. Joshua Shepard can't live without Miri.

John Shepard always soldiers on.  But Miri will not be dying on his watch.  No sir. Image IPB

Do you see her having an "obsession" with having a regular family? I don't. I'd rather think she's wary of the concept of a family altogether. She doesn't want to be emotionally bound, and that she lowers her walls for Shepard doesn't mean she'll lose that trait.
Apart from that, I agree with you.

Remember Farscape and the Peacekeeper wars? John Crichton and Aeryn Sun both got a baby boy inside Moya, a living ship.

I do see her as such.  She is living vicariously through her sister and has spent her entire adult life making sure Oriana has that family she never could.  You can hear her voice break up just saying the word 'family' when she sees her sister at the end of her personal mission.

But she has another drive also.  She is one of the most powerful and competent people in the Galaxy and she enjoys doing what others think is impossible and pushing herself to her limits.

So I suspect in her future she would attempt to somehow reconcile both her professional and intellectual needs and her emotional ones.

Ieldra: guess I can see the idealogical split... but I think they need to have at least three good endings. Baby/Wife, loving couple without kids, and battle couple storming the Traverse until they have to use canes to beat the Krogan's away.

I could go with some variant of all of these -if they're made unconventional enough. I repeat part of my reply on the last page because it was drowned by chat so fast I suspect some might have missed it:

In the end it comes down to this: there is a need for Miranda's future, if she stays together with Shepard, to be unconventional (add: with or without kids). A conventional future would belittle what has gone before and would
contradict the implication that Shepard's and Miranda's future is somehow meaningful for humanity as a whole.
