I agree very much. She might have unconsciously looked for someone she can respect, which probably isn't easy considering her own capabilities, but although Shepard is a legend who might live up to his reputation and earn her respect, a man on your own operating table, legend or not, isn't one you fall in love with.DarthReavus wrote...
More fool them I say! Though I'm sticking to my guns on why Miranda was cold towards Shepard once he was awake. I just don't buy the idea that she'd properly fall in love with him considering she had no interaction with him apart from that one episode in two years. It just seems more likely to me that fall in love with the ideal of Shepard rather than just his comatose body.
And what of the numerous accounts of nurses/carers etc who have 'fallen in love' with the coma patient they have been looking after for 'x' amount of time...
It happens all the time, though as Darth said, its probably more the idea of someone than the actualy physical body.
(ps)....just going through the start of the game now for you...wont be long)

I solved the confrontation between Miranda and Jack by telling Miranda to back off. After that i talked to her and chose the paragon option "Be the better woman".
Is the romance still possible with Miranda?
She says theres a lot to do and shep should come back later. Do i just have to do a storyline mission to get the next dialogue or is it fubar?

Nope. Sorry. Not possible to romance Miranda if you side with Jack in their confrontation.
BTW, your name immediately made me think of "I am Error."

Well the point I was trying to make wasn't that she had fallen in love with Shepard, more that she had grown too attached to one of her 'projects'. She probably knew she was starting to care for him too much, so she gives him the cold shoulder to start off with.

Of course maybe the reason Miranda is a bit cold at the beginning is because she knows she's fallen for Shepard and it scares her a bit. She's all about getting the job done after all and she tries to look at Shepard as a project when really she cares for him on a much more personal level. I could imagine her seeing this as a sign of weakness on her part, thus her cold attitude at the start of the game.
Why do I see in this as a variant on the Chuck/Sarah tension, but a lot less dragged out?

I'm guessing both the paragon & renegade options to the left of the screen were greyed out? If so, then yeah, you'll have to re-do. If not, then choosing one of two will defuse things and you can still romance Miranda.

Then I think if we combine our two theories into one mega theory Andy, we'll have hit the proverbial nail on the head and come to a consensus that makes sense
