Guardian....misread your very first post to me meh....yeah POV does matter, but depending on your life ....POV again I dont think matters, if you have hit rock bottom....
But enough of this deep heavy talk...were depressing Annjul....
Who's for a drink and some nacho's?
Yes. If we don't know what we're doing.Maviarab wrote...
So there again, you would be messing with nature, and as time has proven, mess with nature, and sooner or later nature will mess back with you in a big way.
In which way are we not messing with nature when we use up so much fossil fuel for our cars that we might get a runaway greenhouse effect and destroy all life on Earth?btw, what technology were you referring to earlier? Cars, boats? Not really imo....test tube babies, gene thereppy, stem cell research imo is messing with nature.
You can turn that particular argument to any purpose: we have been given the ability to change ourselves, so it's our destiny to do it. This is similar to my position only I don't see nature as a subject: we have evolved the ability to change the conditions of our evolution. It's unavoidable that we try to see where this takes us. It may take us to destruction, yes. But so may driving cars. One 'could' argue that we as humans with our intelligence (lack of) are 'supposed' to do this thing....I do not agree though. See as I am non religious (though I have no real beliefs at all) if nayure says you get this, or nature says this person cannot have children, then nature has spoken, I mean, in all seriousness, I actually know a devout christian who had cells implanted in her so she could concieve..
I said to her, surely its God's will (as she was a believer) that you do not have children...and she could not answer me...nature/God...whatever you have faith in or believe, certain things should not be tampered with.
This is very much what I'm thinking. I don't find it hard to accept that the human species won't exist forever. If we're smart enough, we'll survive longer, if we're too stupid, we'll survive not as long. I tend to be somewhat optimistic, but I do see the pitfalls. One of the biggest is the "tragedy of the commons", a serious, but considering evolutionary priorities, probably unavoidable flaw in human nature. The problem is, like global warming, no one cares about it, ultimatly, we as humans (well a ceretain powerful few anyway) believe that humanity is too important and wonderful to nbecome extinct....global warming is irrelevent, the continuation of humanity is what matters (very similar to being scared of heights....there is no such thing, its a fear of falling and dieing)...Personally, I am not stupid enough nor ignorant or niaeve enough to believe that humanity will last forever.

All right, I'll have to accept we live in different worlds. It happens.
I'll still read your fanfics - your Shepard is rather unique, I like that. Let us know when chapter 3 is finished.
I still get tears in my eyes watching the scene when the Fifth Fleet jumps in. The music fits the feel of the scene superbly.Melrache wrote...
