I could always bring back the comparing Miri to Bastila topic I said last time. Both have alot in common.

See, I disagree with that.

You could say that Miranda's and Bastila's paths in life have a lot in common.

But as far as their personalities are concerned, IMO they're very different.

Miranda, despite her issues of self-worth, is confident, independent and driven. Though she worries about making mistakes, she's not terrified by them and does what she believes is right, accepting responsability for her actions. She's psychologicaly strong and her distant exterior is mostly due to her professional demeanor.

Bastila, on the other hand, is full of self-doubt and too dependent on the guidance of others. She's riddled with fear of herself, and paralyzed by the thought that she might fail and fall to the dark
side. She acts according not to her conscience but to what she believes the masters would approve  She's psychologicaly quite frail and her distant demeanor stems from an attempt to bury her emotions, instead of trying to understand and control them.

At least, that's how I see them. And it actually took Miranda for me to realize how deeply flawed Bastila's personality is in certain aspects.

"Real close, then far apart" only suggests to me that they had a thing for each other, but something happened that made Miranda or Jacob or both think otherwise. It's not enough to suggest "sex" to me, or at all, and I think their separation may be connected to Miranda and Jacob's mission with Ish. You find this out if you bring Jacob with you when you talk to Ish. I think Jacob almost died in the mission. So maybe the end result of that mission led to Miranda and Jacob coming to the consensus that they weren't right for each other.

Good points. I support this logic. I also don't see how any of his comments could be taken to "heavily imply" they had sex. Or even subtly imply it. If we were reading that far into things then we could say some of TIM or Miranda's comments implied that they did the dirty dirty.

Sidenote: Am I the only one who really loves how Miranda says Jacob's name? Especially at the "ah, Jacob" part?

Then why does he get pissed off at you if you ask him? Plus if you where male and a woman like Miri came up to you with a party drink, you are telling me you would not have sex? They went through hell in that mission and she had feelings for Jacob. Maybe it's just because I played Galaxy and thats what I think >_>

Theres a bonus item for you when you beat Galaxey :wizard:

Also we are having an argument that Miri and Jacob had sex. I think he did just because they do show strong feelings in Galaxy and when you ask him he gets pissed off and I find what he says is a hint but thats just me >_>

I think Miranda has a very complex relationship with sex and romance. The backstory I've created for her in my head her occasionally sleeping with people as part of missions. She has, of necessity, learned to compartmentalize sex and love. I think she outs a very high price on herself when she doesn't have to sleep with people.

And now I have completely contradicted myself. Still working out how I feel, I guess.

As I said, to me the similarities in the list you posted are similarities in circumstances of their lives, not similarities in their personalities, which to me are quite dissimilar.

You're not. ;)

I actually think it's really interesting to compare Miranda and Jack when it comes to how they deal with childhood trauma. Neither one has had any meaningful relationships in their adult lives. Jack, for lack of a better term, becomes a sociopath. She approaches everything with a "devil may care" attitude, so she runs around killing, causing mayhem, screwing all kinds of people, etc. Miranda goes the opposite direction and basically closes herself off from everyone, puts up a facade (and I'm convinced that her ice queen routine is just that, a facade, and not her actual personality), etc.

Miri was not tortured tho and injected with so much drugs it's not even funny. Jack in my mind has the right to act like she is and the fact that she is dying just adds more to her character.

No she is dying like Thane. Her implants are causing her body to die. She has longer to go then Thane but she will die in a couple of years.

This might be hard to comprehend for males, but just because a woman likes someone and brings him celebratory alcohol after going through something as intense as what they went through, doesn't mean she wants to have sex with him. And even if she did, it doesn't mean she would.

The way I saw it, he got pissed off because a) it's not really Shepard's business and B) he got shot down while she's showing more of an  interest in him than she ever did for Jacob.

I'm not saying there was never anything between them. I believe they probably did develop some sort of a relationship beyond friends, but did either of them act on it? And did they take it to the bedroom? I just don't see it. Miranda was and is Jacob's boss after all and she takes her responsibilites very seriously. She wouldn't just jump into bed with a subordinate because it suits her.

That's just my opinion though. If believing they had sex makes the game better or more real for you then don't let me stop you.

Oh yeah, wasn't trying to necessarily equate their experiences. I think the nature of what they went through contributed to how they cope - Jack was basically broken, while Miri herself said her father hurt her, but didn't break her.

When you upgrade her implants, if you read the description it says her body is dying.
