I actually posted in the Jack thread to get their thoughts on the matter (this is completely OT but I'll find a way to tie it in to Miranda). This is what they replied:

It's never said anywhere that all biotics suffer neural degeneration, I suspect this is wishful thinking on their parts unfortunately.

@firecleaner: I have a Samsung Eternity. Basically a wannabe iPhone that fails miserably. Wouldn't be a bad phone if it had third-party apps, or app support at all, but oh well.



@Darth: Nachos come in bags now? Oh, and thanks for completely shooting down my biotic degeneration question, jerk. :-P Even though it isn't mentioned anywhere, it does kinda make sense. After all, why would Kaiden experience headaches if there was absolutely no damage being done? I think it could be argued either way, and for the sake of continuing to talk about Miranda, I chose to just go with it.

@Flashy: Strahovski Monday! That reminds me, I had a dream that Sarah asked Shaw to put his wife's ring on her finger right in front of Chuck and then she pushed him away and got on her knee and proposed to Chuck. The rest of the dream was about their wedding, during which loads of spy stuff happened of course. I really didn't want to wake up. It was the best episode ever!

And did I mention that at some parts of the dream I WAS Sarah Walker? I love my sleep life.

Ok, I imagine the L2 implants do cause neural damage considering they're the most unsafe implants ever developed.  In ME Shepard was an L3 which are safe, and in ME2 the implants have been replaced by new L5 implants which are extremely powerful and yet still safe.  I don't think Miranda would have kept an L2 implant, she'd have been upgraded.  Jack would have had an L3 given her age, so I think the majority of the neural degeneration is Jack fan wishful thinking.

Is that a more satisfactory argument?
