I'm only going to say one thing on what I DID see:
The reason I tell people to try and stay on topic is because if we go too far off topic the BioWare people WILL shut down the thread. Even worse, they will tell us not to remake the thread. A little off topic here and there is ok, but I've seen it get taken into multiple pages here.
I don't know for certain if this is about the off topic thing or not, but what ever it is, its over.
Rath: If you gotta go, you gotta go, but don't hold a grudge with something that happened on the internet. I'm not saying you can't be angry with what ever it was, but don't let it ruin the fun this thread can sometimes offer.
That said... I'm done with it. Moving on!

I think that we dont have to post only smart sentences here. I support this thread but how long we have to talk about one character here? this thread is for Mirimaniacs, yeah, but... relax and jokes are not bad thing.
What we are left to discuss now? nothing, i think that people here already talked about everything, so why cant we treat it as a good fun? becase someone doesnt want to click few pages? pathetic.
i understant that there are people who only approve important, serious dialogs but... wouldnt it be boring? this is forum, offtopic are needed too.
More discussions, more discussions... take it easy... there are a lot of other topics to discuss in them., we dont have to make this thread as serious as they are. Those support threads are special because of this 'silliness'. If they didnt look like this, i wouldnt spent here time.... i like conversations and exchange of opinions, but i can do that personally with my friends... all my notices and thoughts about game are only for me. what more can i say? me2 is awesome and thats all.... what to discuss... write anything in topics "IF" ? there is no if..
I dont know why Rath is leaving, its up to him.
then WTH are Tali fans doing there? writing one sentence "i love tali" again and again?
chill out. no need to get pissed.
you want discussion, then fine! come up with one instead of complaining that we are making jokes

I think it's ironic that the Tali boards also had a major rift about this exact same topic after we hit the 2k mark. All the people who had been keeping quiet decided that now that we hit the mark it was time to speak up. There had already been lots of arguments between keeping it on topic compared to the others who though it fair to let conversations go where they take them, but it turned much more volatile last night. We too had several people decide to quit and posted the obligatory "I'm quitting and heres why you should care" post to incite copy cats, followers, and general angst.
I'm going to share ultimately what I think the concern of going off topic is unfounded.
1. These forums see a signifiant lack of moderation. So much infact that you could post very illicit content and not expect to see any consequences for hours at a time.
2. Once a thread has exceeded a post count it becomes unreasonable for any moderator to go over it in detail to ensure that it has been largely kept on topic. It's unlikely that most will even checked more then a page or two back and even if they find the conversation isn't about Miranda, but instead about WW2 they will simply assume it is a temporary deviation. It seems unlikely they will pass such quick judgement simply because at the one instant they checked it wasn't on topic.
3. The Tali thread often goes hours into off topic conversation, with long discussions about anything from sexual orientation and it's social benefits, politics, even ****'s and war. All the three major topic taboo's and the size of the Tali thread certainly encourages more scrutinty then most due to the extra attention it garners. If it hasn't been closed, infact it's be stickied, then your thread is equally safe.
4. They're not going to punish you for liking MIranda by denying you the opportunity to recreate your thread simply because they closed it once. They would have to actually moderate this forum for such action to even be conceivable.

I agree (not surprisingly probably). I should stress that "less" silliness/OT does not mean "none". But I also find it increasingly hard to find interesting stuff - for instance fanfic excerpts - among pages of fluff, and if I do find some, I often can't do it justice because the next 20 pages await inspection. I have a fast connection, but also a full-time job, which means I really can't continue reading if I feel I'm wasting my time - which would be sad because it's occasionally interesting here, more so than in some character threads moving slower, I might add.jtav wrote...
This is not going to make me very popular, but I support less silliness/OT and more Miranda discussion. I'm on a dial-up and it's extremely frustrating to click through several pages before finding ANY Miranda discussion. I think the speed of these boards work to their detriment. People feel like they have to post something to keep the thread on the front page.
I will not go away for some time, but I think this needed to be said. If this thread moves more slowly because of that, then so be it. Take Miranda as an example and post more quality and less quantity. Even jokes can be better or worse, and more or less Miranda-related.
@Lareit:
I completely agree about the lack of moderation. I'm not used to this.

Simply stunning Lareit....*Claps*....kudos to a great post.
But for now, I am staying out of this forum, seriously, what has not been said about Miranda that we can talk about without all facepalming our heads into our desks for repetative boredom?
Shin, is it ok to start a truly OT thread in the group please?
