I'd like to pose a question to you guys. If you could have Miranda back in ME3 as someone critical to the plot or as a LI, but not both, which would you choose?

I'll probably be in the minority here, but I'd choose the plot-critical role. I can see much more potential in her there. A romance, after all, is only a romance. Miranda would be less interesting in a romance-only role, just like any romance unconnected to the plot would not much interest me as anything but a nice, but expendable addition.

That's a choice I couldn't really make, not from the standpoint of one of my characters anyway.  Frankly I'd be disappointed if BioWare chose that route, though Miranda has already served her plot-critical function with ME2, much the same way as Liara already played her plot-critical function in ME.

Her character would no doubt be truly astonishing if she were to continue to be both plot-critical and a LI.

You know, her character *is* truly astonishing.

*nods* Yes, yes it is...but think how much better it could be if they keep her as LI AND plot-critical in the third. Actually I was thinking, if Shep is implanted with Reaper tech and something goes wrong with him...she would be the ONLY one who would know how to help him.

It's quite obvious he already thinks that, otherwise he wouldn't be here in the first place. I think he just meant they could really explore her potential with that option.

And good morning/afternoon/evening, everyone!

Good afternoon Meg!  How are you?

You aren't alone. Maybe it's because O dpn't find her attractive, but I'kk take a big, juicy role any day of the week. Though both is better.

I do find her attractive. Very much so. It doesn't make much of a difference. The thing is, as a rule I find stories where the romance is the end in itself boring. Epic, sweeping, plots, on the other side, very interesting. So if I have to choose which kind of story I'd like to experience, and I can't combine both, it's easy.

Let's hope we get both in ME3. I think we can all agree that would be best.

Night Guardian!

@Mass: How's work? Have you been fired for being on here too much yet?

@Darth: Good to see you back. I hope you're behaving. :-P

@Jedi: Where's my morning read? Your latest chapter was not in my inbox when I logged on.

Head cold is slowing me down. :P Aiming for tonight, assuming my eyes don't get so puffy I can't see, lol. It's the chapter where it all goes to hell so it needs to be appropriately dramatic.

This is OT, but it is for my Miranda fic: is the death penalty still in use in the Alliance or Citadel space? My gut says no, but I want to be sure? Also, can a Spectre arrest someone if they'd rather force them to stand trial than shoot them?

The council says that treason is a "capital offense" so I assume there is the death penalty for at least some things.

I'd say that a Spectre can arrest someone. On the death penalty I'm not so sure. I can imagine the different member civilizations having different rules. And on Earth there are still nation-states, which might still have different rules.

Shepard talks about bringing Saren in during ME1 so I would agree that a Spectre can arrest someone.

Ooooh, appropriate chapter 9 music... "Agent of Chaos" from the Dark Knight soundtrack.
