You know, I really don't know what it is about Yvonne - but she is one of the few blondes I find myself attracted to.

It's probably the fact that she's a dork - in a such a great way.

She is the only skinny blonde I have ever been attracted to.  I have been obsessed with brunettes my entire life.

But like I said before the woman has some sort of aura of goodness and light.  I just cannot help but like her.

I share the obsession. It's a very good thing they didn't go through with a blonde Miranda.

As for Yvonne, sure she looks great, but I usually prefer the "dark and mysterious" aura over the goodness and light. In Yvonne, I'm more attracted to her graceful movements - you can see she's athletic. But compared with Miranda - imagine her as the Mata Hari type in appropriate clothing - she pales. Even the mental image is enough to affect my thinking processes...

@andysilv:
Nice pic. I didn't know that one yet.

Morning people!

To buy Kasumi or not buy Kasumi, that is the question...

How can you not want to? One of the missions for her is described as being like a James Bond mission. That's just plain awesome. Not to mention, you'll get to see Miranda in new surroundings if you bring her.

Is it worrying if that might be my only reason to actually buy the DLC? Because right now, it is.

I hope Miranda gets to wear one of those tight black evening dress' and then she has to ask Shepard, "Where am I suppose to hide my gun?"

Haha. That would be simply great! Some clichés are worth repeating. I'd pay for that. I've always wanted to see Miranda in an evening dress - I think it would suit her.
Sadly, I don't think we'll get that. I don't think anything will be done with existing characters in the new DLC. Probably they won't even have one additional line of text.

Apart from that, I think the new character sounds cool, and is worth buying for herself. It's only that there already are too many team members. But being able to see Miranda in new surroundings does help the appeal.

Well maybe they will line the scene up with some of the voice over work they already did, like for example...when Miranda dons the black dress, she yells,"Perfect!!" and when they are walking up to the mansion and someone is taking pictures, she yells, "Headshot!!". And lastly, there is a toast before dinner and as she drinks her drink, she yells, "Down you go!"  Yea, that will work, I think...lol

Would you guys prefer more story-driven DLC that develops the whole Reaper plot further, or more character-driven DLC that elaborates further on each character or the crew as a whole?

I have to be honest and say that all I care about is to know more about the immediate reactions and concerns following the return from Omega4. The state of the ship, your LI reaction to being alive and in love :) and a sense of finality between TIM, Shepard, Miranda and Jacob .. and Oriana(Yvonne as the voice actor of course :D).

I had him in my core team in my recent playthrough. He's extremely useful together with Miranda and a Sentinel Shepard. So yes, more depth would be appreciated. But he's already established as somewhat boring, it would be hard to overcome the impression created by his existing aspects.

Hes only boring because they ignored the interesting parts of his backstory. He was part of a black ops group, the Corsairs, and he survived Eden Prime. He also was the main protagonist of ME Galaxy. I think it would fairly easy to remove his 'boring' persona if they actually dealt with his background.

You know, it's strange. When you talk with him, he tells you some of his background. It's about the same amount of info you get out of Garrus, and the things he tells you should really be interesting. But they don't come across that way, while Garrus' stories do. I'm trying to understand why, what Bioware did wrong with this guy. It doesn't help that his first two romance conversations with a femShep aren't that great, even a bit repulsive for some.

All right, that's enough OT for now.

I think it's a sure bet to say you won't get that sense of finality before ME3.
More after-the-mission reactions would be nice, but I think technical limitations may prevent that - you'd have to insert new conversation options all over the place, and I don't know how difficult that would be to implement as DLC. Being a programmer, my guess would be: challenging. The whole structure of ME2 would have to have been designed and built with the integration of future DLC in mind. That DLC characters like Zaeed and Kasumi don't have any meaningful interaction with existing characters is, as far as I'm concerned, an indication that the structure isn't sufficiently designed for deep DLC integration.

I have not played a FemShep, so idk how he acts in that aspect, but my first play thru on the game, he opened up a whole bunch of dialog options when I was talking to him in the armory, but I picked a certain path and the other stuff closed on me and never opened again.  On my second play thru, some of it opened up right after we did his mission, and after he talked to TIM and Miranda comes in and she leaves he talks about her, but then that's it.  Now, all he talks about is 'spilling drinks", won't open up any more.  I think some people who play this game get stuck with some of the min dialog options, so it doesn't open up the character fully so maybe you can understand what that chacater is about.

I believe some of the opening up will only happen with femSheps, but I stopped talking to him with my femShep because it all comes across as a cheap come-hither from my femShep, which isn't how I wanted to play her.

You know, I think I've figured out why I love Miranda and her romance so much. She's one of the few romancable females that isn't All About Shepard. She has other people and things she cares about, namely Oriana and the mission. I hate it when female characters revolve around the hero and don't have needs and goals that have nothing to do with him. I get the feeling that if something happened to Shepard, some of the LIs would collapse. But Miranda? She'd grieve, but she'd eventually move on. She wants Shepard. She doesn't need him, and I love her for it.

Ah....I'm tempted to quote myself, since this mirrors so much what I feel and what I've written in the Manifest. It's exactly that what I love about her romance - not the only thing, but the most important aspect. To quote myself: "Romancing Miranda tells us about a kind of love that is not about need....". See the OP for the rest.

This is also the reason why I'd be very disappointed if Miranda proved not to be a big part of ME3. There simply is no other like her. There may be others as "hot", others who're cute, attractive and interesting in many ways, but no other with Miranda's kind of presence as someone who's meant to be more than the hero's satellite.

Since this is the slow time of the day, and this might just remain visible for some time, perhaps some promotion is in order:

If you....yes, you who's reading this at this moment...are new to this thread and like Miranda, consider becoming a member of our group at http://social.bioware.com/group/1284/, informally called the "Mirimaniacs". I also recommend the (admittedly very long) original post of this thread, and our impressive screenshot collections, posted on the group, some in the "photos" section, some in group discussion topics.

Shepard and Miranda are like a binary star system. They both shine brightly and pull and push on each other but neither is diminished or dulled by the loss of the other.

Others tend to be more like planets orbiting Shepard with other LIs just being the closest planet.

Time for some Miranda pics.

I believe this scene wasn't shot before:

Meet her gaze and be enchanted:

Miranda and Shepard on the derelict Reaper:

Miranda getting off the shuttle on Tuchanka. I believe there's a lack of shots showing Miranda in movement:

@andysilv:
There we had the same idea at the same time. I also like your analogy.

@gutty47:
No, you didn't kill the thread. Things are usually quiet at 1200-1500 MET.

I was just thinking that the only big romance scene we don't have a picture from is the one where you choose to be just friends and Shepard holds Miranda's hands for a moment. It's quite a nice scene even though it puts the romance on hold.

Perhaps some of our screenshot extraordinaires could keep an eye out for the scene? ;-)

Not me. My current Shepard will be unable to romance Miranda.

As for the magic 700: we might get there tonight (or not, Fridays tend to be very slow), but let me make a prediction: we'll be the third to reach the four-digit numbers, not the second.
