Here is a question for you:

In a fanfic, I want Miranda - this story plays back in 2166, with her still living at "home" - to stumble upon one of her father's dirty secrets. The evidence must be in form of a communication, or a surveillance protocol or something like that, since it's featuring a conversation. How do you think she can get it? I've been thinking about her father - he isn't stupid and won't have such stuff lying around in the digital archives for two years. I've considered a few options but don't really like them for various reasons. Perhaps you can help me out.

I like the hacking idea myself.

Some might consider this semi spoilerish for a season 3 episode, however, someone has taken that scene and done an 'inner thoughts' version.
Chuck & Sarah's inner thoughts

......Mmm, must remain calm.. I must get back my calm center... Wraaah! :pinched: This season's beginning has been hard to watch, fortunately it seems to begin to make a slow turn for better.

Indeed - I'm looking forward to seeing how they organise it. I'm hoping it gets resolved before the end of the season.

I loved that little discussion.  So much unstated stuff going on.  One of the few non-sucky parts of one of the worst episodes in Chuck history.

The best part is when her smile fades as soon as he turns around and leaves.

Man it is incredible how much she has matured as an actress over the course of the show.

You just have to enjoy the ride man.  They are making it so difficult precisely because it will make the payoff that much sweeter.

But there is still alot of good stuff going on this season.  It is not as fun as season 2 was but in its own way I think it is better.  It is very dramatic and the actors really seem on their game....well the regulars anyway.

Yes, that was my first idea. But I just know what I would do with such stuff if I were Miranda's father: Delete it! Irrecoverably. There must be a convincing reason why it's still there. Hmm. Perhaps a forgotten automatic backup...or an all-too-curious system administrator who forgot to delete his cache when he changed his job.

I guess you also know the forums at ttlg.com? I had some difficulties getting the cutscenes to run earlier this year and got good advice there.

No I think the disc is corrupted wont even installImage IPB

The pathos of gaming is that as time goes on the game goes out of print and operating systems move on and eventually all you have left are memories.  You can never play that game again.

It should be the result of an elaborate scheme...like obtaining his DNA and synthesizing his voice and various other technical wonderment...to crack his nearly impervious security systems all to show just how much of a genius Miranda is.

Alternatively, the reason why it's kept is that is that while it may be a dirty secret for Miranda's father, it's also a dirty secret for someone else? A last resort "If I have to go down, I'll take you with me!" kinda thing?

Just wish I could go back for one of my first games, that is also one of the only RTS games that I started, but wasn't able to complete. Command & Conquer: Red Alert 1 ^_^. The vista change also made huge chunk of my old cds useless, sad really.

If he is working on creating the perfect child or doing other dastardly and complicated deeds wouldn't he keep past records and data so to facilitate more successful attempts in the future?  Not even her father can just remember everything.  He probably has a very heavily protected data stash of all his previous projects he can refer back to when needed.

It's more like something that could prove you hired an assassin to kill someone important. Not exactly that, of course, I won't give it away completely

BTW, creating the perfect child as such is no big thing. Not even illegal on Earth.

Since Miranda is genetically very similar to her father, maybe she can use that to find a way around some biometic security system?

Blackmail is the other thing I'd thought about. Good, but requires additional characters. I'll probably go that way.

The datapads in the closet are, perhaps, a little too cheesy.

It is if you keep killing the ones who are not perfect enough.

That depends. Not if you kill them as embryos. How to measure perfection? If it's genetic perfection, embryos are enough, if not, then you have to wait until the children are grown up. Killing them at that point might be a bit much even for Miranda's father.

I never mentioned a closet
I just think that Miranda accidentaly finding them in a wall wile practicing with her biotics will add to the OMG factor
but it's your story

Um...why would Miranda be horrified at the idea that she was the first one he kept if he was just killing off embryos?  I am pretty sure they failed his exacting standards in their education and developement so he had them killed and started again.

Otherwise...well...then it isn't even worth mentioning.

I'm fairly certain from the way Miranda says and acts, that her father killed them off when they were, err, human beings, and not just embyros.

You make a convincing point. I'll have to take that into consideration.
