Yeah, you've been missed, young firestarter.
Hope everything's good with you. Guess you're not grounded anymore.
Ha! No, I'm still grounded.
But I used my superior biotic powers to hack into my mother's computer and re-allow my MAC address for our wi-fi.. *evil laughter* I AM A BIOTIC BIOTIC GOD. I THINK THINGS, AND THEY HAPPEN!

This, its well written but they are most definitely not in character...this seems to be an issue with a lot of the fics out there tho.

The only one possibly in character is Shepard, and that depends on whether or not your idea of Shepard is an extreme renegade c*nt. Then, and only then, is Shepard in character. As for Miranda, there is no way in hell she is even close to being in character.MassAffected wrote...

Firstly I don't think she'd go for such a cheap shot. Secondly I disagree with the notion that her only value to Cerberus early on was as, effectively, a hooker.jtav wrote...
How so, Darth? How do you think she would react? I was basing it on the fight with Jack. She tends to react with contempt when threatened, and she has a knack for knowing how to verbally wound people. As for Shep, I think it's consistent with one who's been loudly vocal that those responsible deserve to die and justifying his attraction to Miranda by telling himself she isn't Cerberus.

I suspect nobody is particularly liking the direction, which is what's worrying jtav I think.MassAffected wrote...
Actually let me rephrase that. It really depends on how you played your Shepard. If you let him kill the scientist when you find Tombs in ME1 then he is in character. I like how its written, but I'm not liking the direction its taking.

Don't get me wrong, I can see it happening like that for sure...but its really hard to relate to this fic because its not how I chose to play my Shepard. I don't think that jtav should worry, it is very well written...extremely so in my opinion. I appreciate the story for what it is, but its very hard for me to get into it because of the fact that I play Shepard differently and a lot of the time I read these fics and he is completely out of character to me.

No you're absolutely right, but a dude like Shepard has had so many bad things happen to him and his friends that I really think he deserves one.

He jerked his arm away so quickly that Miranda nearly lost her balance. You didn't mean for this to happen?" He laughed, but it came out as something closer to a choked sob. "You wanted them to create more thresher maw venom. How did you think they were going to test it? Set up some targets at a firing range? God, I never thought you were stupid, Lawson. Or maybe it was just me."
"I thought they would be tested on batarian slavers. People who deserved it. Never the Alliance. Never you."
"Well, isn't that refreshing?" He turned back to face her. "You suggest developing illegal biological weaponry, send it up the chain of command of a terrorist organization, and then you complain about who those terrorists test it on. I was wrong; you are stupid. How you managed to bring me back to life I will never understand. Tell me, what's the real reason you're in charge? Did the Illusive Man think I'd want to **** you so badly that I'd do anything you said? I've got to hand it to him. It almost worked."
Miranda recoiled. So much for him being different from the rest. He would mock her just as cruelly as Jack. No, it was worse. He knew her, knew how hard it had been for that trust him with her insecurities and how much it mattered that he had valued her as a person. And he had thrown it back in her face. Two could play at that game. "Believe what you want. It wouldn't be the first time I've seduced a hypocritical ingrate for information. I'll be happy to provide a list."
His fist clenched. "Shut up."
The barb had hit home. Score one for male vanity. "That's how I started in Cerberus: sleeping with people for information or to blackmail them. Sometimes I even pretended to be in love. Did you think that you were special?" Half true. She had made her reputation with honey traps, but her orders for Project Lazarus were merely to assist, observe, and report. Not that he deserved to know that. "And this wasn't my fault, in any case I only made suggestions."
"Always trying to evade responsibility. You are the real Cerberus." His tone was suddenly brisk and official. "But for you, there would have been know massacre on Akuze. Let's see, that's forty-nine counts of manslaughter at the very least, war crimes, and destruction of military property. Possibly treason. I'm still a Spectre. I should arrest you." He shook his head. "No, your kind never get justice."
Miranda felt something press against the back of her helmet. "You're wrong, Shepard," said Toombs quietly. "They do if we kill them."
Too brutal? Not brutal enough? As unpleasant as she is, is Miranda IC?
I have to say I completely agree with what Darth said. I think Shepard is okay, he would be angry in that situation and I find his dialogue believable. Miranda on the other hand, I don't think she would respond with "Believe what you want. It wouldn't be the first time I've seduced a hypocritical ingrate for information. I'll be happy to provide a list." I mean, I don't know exactly how the story is set up, but that just feels completely out of place in the context of their relationship. At least, the relationship that we're left with at the end of ME2.
I also find it hard to believe that Miranda would be, essentially, a prostitute for Cerberus. Yes, she was loyal to them but I can't believe Miranda would do that, she has high moral grounds and I think she would find that far too degrading.
Don't get me wrong, I like that you're trying to do something original but, I just think Miranda's character needs some serious adjustments.

I don't care if she is voiced by Claudia Black.

Very good points about Miranda, I also don't see her selling herself out like that...not for Cerberus, not for anybody.

"What I want? What I wanted to believe is that you're a good person! I wanted to believe you when you said you'd never do anything like this. I wanted to believe that I wasn't betraying my men because I was falling in love with the woman responsible for sending them to their deaths."
"Falling in --" Wait. That was irrelevant. "I wrote a memo. What happened afterward is not my concern."
"Always trying to evade responsibility. You are the real Cerberus."

Agreed, you got to tell me if God of War 3 is good when you get it. I honestly haven't played the two previous ones. I didn't have PS2 back in the day nor do I have it now.
