@Jedi: I tried to come up with a complaint just now, but all I could think of was that last chapter and Miranda thinking, "Bloody hell, why didn't I lock the damn door?":lol::lol:

Needless to say, I couldn't come up with anything while I was ROFL.

Hee hee. I'm kind of proud of that line. :P And "Tell Miranda I said hi."

I have a question for you:

If Ashley and Miranda actually met, what would they think about each other? At which point? They are very different in personality and outlook, yet also have some similarities (some details in the OP). And no, I don't want to know how they would fight each other over Shepard, because I think that's silly. Just how they think about and react to each other.

I think they'd initially be very hostile, but would quickly develop a respect for each other's competence. Then somebody mentions poetry, and they start having an argument over the relative merits of Browning and Tennyson. New best friends.

Seriously, I think they'd get along fine, especially if Miranda resigned. They are driven, hypercompetent women with something to prove and who love their sisters. I think they'd recognize that.

I had overlooked that epilogue. And now......ROFL.

Maybe I should post fewer excerpts. Although the story is about 1500 words from complete, so it's moot now. I just write slowly in forum time, so I try to compensate for that. The disbelief that some people had that the romance might not end well threw me, as did complaints that Shep was OOC. But I'm not changing anything. (though I'm toying with a happier sequel)

in the end its your story, not everyone may like certain things, but in the end the question is do you like it? and im sure i speak for many people from what ive seen of your story i think it will be good, the shepard may be ooc to some and i find it hard to see him act that way, but then again its your shepard and the plus to him is he can act anyway the player or in this case the writer sees fit

Back from classes, which were good. Beautiful day on the east coast today! Sunny and 68 degrees F.

So what's up everyone?

@Meg: Read up on the chapter you sent me, excellent work as always.

It's hard to say Shep is OOC unless he's doing something that completely contracts something explicitly stated in the game. In the end our Shep is an extension of ourself and each of us thinks of him a little differently.

Edit: damn, my sentence structure and grammar is such epic fail today.

Yes, I think Miranda resigning would be almost a prerequisite. As for poetry, I can't see Miranda liking romantic poetry much, but I don't know enough about that to make an educated guess.

Agreed. Write the story the way you feel like is the best for you. The readers will have to go with and some will enjoy it no matter what. You can't please all parties, so don't even try. It never ends well.  Good luck with your fanfics!

OT: Anyone tried the DA:O Awakening yet? Anyone has opinion made about it yet? :? Also, if someone has Chuck/Yvonne picture that would have proper resolution,so it could be made into good quality poster onto my wall, I'd like to know! :P

Starting a 4th ME2 playthrough, this time as a Soldier. Two as a Vanguard, one a Sentinel. Time to try the Soldier's worth. Gonna miss not having biotics though.

Hi everyone! @ jtav - I honestly fail to see how someone could think a character whose personality is guided by the player could be considered "out of character". Just sayin'....

*puts on English major hat* Browning and Tennyson are a bit later than the Romantics, though early Tennyson definitely shows some Romantic traits.

I can actually see Miranda liking romantic poetry since romantic works praise nature and the individual and also delve into the wonders of the mind and creative thought, with some romance on the side in some. William Wordsworth seems to suit Miranda pretty well in fact. What do you think jtav? What's your fellow English hat say? :D

Wordsworth, I don't know. I think she'd like Coleridge and Keats, but find Shelley a bit pretentious. I think she'd like late Victorian/Early modern works better: Yates, Hardy, Hopkins.

:crying: Didn't I say I don't know enough about that.. embarrassing, really, but you can't know everything. Anyway, this made me think about what kind of poetry Miranda might like, and I find it surprisingly hard to find anything even in my own language, which I know a little better. But after reading up a little about Browning, I must say unless I read her completely wrong, I can't imagine Miranda liking her poetry.

Edited to answer your last post:
Yes....Coleridge. I can see that.

Hi Vyn! I'm pretty good, just got XBL gold, fully recovered from a nasty bug and my favorite band released their new album today, so yeah things are going pretty well.

Hmm....perhaps not. Most romantics are, at their roots, anti-rationalist, which Miranda is not, and their praise of nature is about the natural state untouched by human craft, which she would also not approve of as a value in itself, to say nothing of the fact that she herself is an incarnation of the opposite.

@jtav: Actually yeah, I can see Coleridge being better suited to Miranda. Wordsworth, while he is good, writes more about nature.

Hardy is also a good satirist.

@Ieldra: I should reiterate my analysis, I probably put too much in there. I agree that Miranda doesn't fit the nature aspect of romantic poetry, but I think she would appreciate the values placed toward the individual and the wonders of the human mind and spirit. I think that was where I was trying to go and gave wrong traits to support what I had said :/

Anyone else wanna throw in their opinions about Miranda's preferred poetry?
