Who on Earth thought Jacob was a good LI? I like "nice guys" but the man has no idea who he is or what he wants. One of the things I love about Miranda is that she has a sense of purpose. Jacob's just there.

....I wonder who wrote him. Whoever it is, that person must feel like sinking into the floor in embarrassment. It must be hard to find another character in a computer game intended as friendly but liked so little.

Anomen, maybe, but I think the writers knew he was occasionally pompous. Jacob could have been interesting. He survived Eden Prime and was in an Alliance black ops group. Why didn't they focus on that and his uneasy relationship with Cerberus? He's just so bland. Even his loyalty mission doesn't really enhance his character.

I recall there were some Anomen fan threads, but it certainy goes into the same direction. I don't know what this is about Bioware and bland male LI characters. I usually play female characters more in RPGs (ME2 being an exception because of Miranda), and it's always a disappointment. Even Kaidan needs serious personality development before I'd consider him interesting enough. So far he simply the best of a bad lot - at least he's easy to like.

That doesn´t make sense to me.
It depends on who you assign to guard the bomb or assist the STG on Virmire.

I always let Ashley guard the bomb and return to her later on, because I want to make sure the bomb actually detonates. Saving kaiden in that situation wouldn´t assure the success of the mission. You might save Kaiden who is the higher ranking officer, but the person at the bomb might be overwhelmed before activating it.

Imagine a squad consisting of Shepard, Miranda and Ashley.
That´s heaven...:o

Or hell. It depends.

How could it be hell when Shepard has those two beautiful and competent ladies by his side? Unless they're trying to kill each other of course...

Except over the radio you're specifically told that the bomb is activated and armed, and before the assault Kirrahe specifically tells you that once armed it cannot be stopped.  So from that point on the clock is ticking, the base is history for certain.  I find the AA Tower with the STG on it is tactically a better extraction point so I always save the person on the tower.

How doesn't it make sense? In saying the mission comes first and that I save Kaiden its obvious that he is arming the nuke. Ashley even suggests that he go with me because of his technical skills. I'm not trying to sound/be rude...I just thought it was pretty clear.

Ah well, one can certainly dream can't they? I always go back to the bomb even tho the tower is a better spot for the fight with Saren because of the whole "ledge scene"

There was so much going on, Shepard must have forgotten that detail. But if the bomb goes off no matter what, why let someone guard it at all?

I also think along the lines of he's a superior officer to Ash and he's also a biotic.  A normal footslogger like Ash is far more expendable than a biotic.  Though at the end of the day my decision has always been about the tactical extraction, and I've only had Ash guard the bomb once.  That was the only time she died, the other times Kaidan did.

However that playthrough where she died is my "main" game as an Adept and romancing Miranda.

It wasn't so much about somebody guarding it as getting it set up and ready to arm.  If things had gone smoothly they'd have been twiddling their thumbs waiting for the STG team with Ash/Kaidan to turn up.

@ Darth - that's how I read it too, the nuke wasn't armed initially until right before you had to choose.

I still like the fight in the water around the bomb...really epic as Saren stalks you splashing water everywhere. And I just don't like racist Ash...just my opinion, no need to go spread it around.

Good, trying to stop going to bed after 2am is proving a harder task than I initially figured though.

Well speaking selfishly I prefer it if you're up later because then I get to talk to you in the morning, lol.

I love that scene. It's like looking inside of Miri. You can see the real person inside. It's her character, emerging from its shell.

Love it

@ Andy - hehe, yea I usually don't feel the need to find a defibrillator when you and Darth are around.
