TIM flat out lies because it's TIM that can't be trusted. I feel sorry for anybody that picks up ME3 and gave the collector base to him in 2. There's no way that can turn out pretty. TIM says Liara can't be trusted also, that alone is enough for me to not be on his side.

Yep, he lies because he wants to keep Shepard and Liara apart. He doesn't want Shepard to be close to Liara so that she can learn about what happened with Cerberus and Liara.

Like I said though, it could just be a hole that will never be touched upon. TIM lies about Liara, and we never get the opportunity to call him out on it.

Yeah, I'm just trying to think of a connection to the fact that TIM flat out lies about Liara at the start of the game. He doesn't want Shepard to know about what happened in Redemption, as he's worried that it'll cause Shepard to distrust him even further if she found out about how he manipulated Liara, and the true nature of how Cerberus recovered the body.

Ot it could just be a plot hole and sloppy writing. <_<

I would say sloppy writing is the most likely thing here, besides at least I never trusted TIM at any point
As for TIM lying about Liara, that was never really picked up anyway, besides you get pushed onto her the moment you set foot on Illium and I dont get were the risk was in telling how they got the body nor does it seem like TIM ever manipulated Liara in any way the end of the comic was more like "Thanks for the corpse, now go do your thing whatever that is"

It is, of course it is. Even if your explanation was the explanation the writers thought of (personally I don't believe they wasted any thoughts on any of the numerous plot holes in ME 2), then it has to be said or otherwise shown in the game. Not doing so is always bad writing.

It's not like Shepard even cares about what happened to her body either. 'Oh, I was dead and resurrected somehow...OK!' I don't think Shepard's knowing how Cerberus got the body is that big of a deal....Shepard can't call TIM or Miranda out on it at anytime.

*puts on tinfoil hat*
Well if you want a completely baseless and utterly pointless plottwist,to touch upon this it could turn out that TIM wasnt lying and Liara really is an SB agent lying about her whole revenge plan to lure you into a trap
*takes off tinfoil hat*

On a more serious note though, its not so much that you never call TIM out on that, but the fact that it never plays out in any way,as I said it cant really be to keep Shepard and Liara apart while at the same moment you get pushed onto her right away on Illium,EDI even encourages you to contact her and no one speaks up against it.
Actually earlier shortly after the game was released I thought TIM wasnt really lying and the SB was somehow blackmailing Liara into working for him sort of like the Liara works for Cerberus theory we had or maybe that she works for the SB without really knowing it

TIM does manipulate Liara, in a way. In Redemption, he hints to her that they're intending to do something with Shepard's corpse, and dangles the carrot of false hope in front of her face. He uses that as a means to get Liara to agree to help them recover Shepard's body.

Plus, he says something like "There's nothing better than someone with a personal motive driving them". He uses Liara and her love for Shepard like a tool to accomplish his goals. That's emotional manipulation, if you ask me.

Why would Liara try to trap shepard as a SB agent when that's what she was trying to make sure didn't happen to Shepard in the first place? She could have just not intervened. I know it's a tin foil hat conspiracy, but it's totally backwards! Just like DA DLC... /tinfoilhat

The final plothole boss would be a Shepard reaper.

Shepard: But, how? Liara recovered my body....

Shepard Reaper: But in Harbingers awesome revenge fun doomsday bonanza fest DLC, she didn't...

I remember when the cut Liara audio files were uncovered, and the Liara audio file in which she says "Hello again, Shadow Broker" was contained in the "Greetings" folder.

People naturally assumed that Liara was greeting Shepard with that line, and that Shepard was the Shadow Broker!

So therefore, Shepard tried to sell her own corpse to the Collectors.

Hmm, we've been missing something. It's been overdue for a bit now... Hmmmmm... what was...
Ah yes! Now I remember:
*snaps fingers* Les? Refresh our memory, what do you hope to get, relationship-wise, from Liara DLC?

Happy to oblige!

We're going to get deep, emotional and intimate romantic content with Liara. She'll open her heart to Shepard about how she's suffered, the guilt she's experienced and the fear that Shepard will hate her. We'll be able to comfort and console Liara, and tell her that everything will be alright. We'll get a proper reaffirmation of the romance.

There! :D

I might buy the DLC twice in that case, just to show BioWare that's the way to go. Whereas I wouldn't need the latest ME 2 DLC even if it was free, and I would never want the latest DA DLC.

I wonder what they will anounce next week, but I dont go into it with high hopesin any case,I also agree that the latest DA DLC is quite I dont know weak, but judging by some peoples comments there seem to be enough that want to play as the faceless zombie horde which makes me wonder if a "A day in the life of a Husk"DLC would work:huh:

I don't think next week's DLC will be for something substantial or story-driven (i.e., Liara related), but just more substantial than 2 helmets.   I'm thinking...more Firewalker missions.

Or at least adding a health/shield bar to the Hammerhead.
