No, but against the unfairness of BioWare. I don't get this desire for "dark" stories or "grey" characters. Of course life is complicated, and often there is no happy end, but what's wrong with having it in a book / movie / game? You can always argue that trashing a character is "only realistic", but what's wrong with not doing it? What's wrong with wanting an ME 2 where Shepard continues the quest for stopping the reapers, with his/her "true" LI at his/her side? Of course you can still add some "rockyness" to the relationship, but you don't need to obliterate the characters for that.
That said, I could live with the change in Liara's character and role, if - and it always comes back to this - the writing were at least halfway decent. It isn't though. And if you can't be bothered to invest the necessary effort, then rather stick with the established character design, as that reduces the required effort.

Right - call to all my fanfic readers.
The "official" reboot of my Freya/Liara canon begins tonight. Now - where should I start? With the first chapter of a long multi-chapter fic that charts a lot of ME2, or with perhaps a smaller oneshot to break the updated canon in?

Very true... but there is still a chance we will be totally surprised and everything we have been complaining about will be fixed. Mind you , I am not going to hold my breath, I expect nothing at this point so I won't be really upset should the expected disaster happen.Nozybidaj wrote...

No, I don't think anyone really expects that at this point. Good or bad we're plowing forward it seems.
Still, it'll be one of those things, that regardless of what they do in ME3, we'll all look back on it years from now and think "Man I wish BW would do a remake of ME2 and ME3 that picked up where ME1 left off." It'll never happen but it doesn't make me want it any less.
There was such potential there, its just a shame to see it all pissed away.
