No, not closure.  I want things to open back up.

It may be both the Shadow Broker and TIM are using Liara against each other. They both have a keen interest in Shepard, after all.

The Shadow Broker would probably want to have terms with Shepard, realizing he is growing distant from TIM and that he wants to spare himself Shepard's vengeance for working with the Collectors.

TIM is obviously an opponent of the Shadow Broker, so using Liara against him as well as collateral with Shepard makes sense.

Liara may just be a pawn in a bigger game between the two, and she may not realize her actions are ultimately designed to keep her alive and in play in the grand game...

This comic book is getting good, and it is becoming more clear how they can bring Liara focused DLC now.

Well, just reading you all's posts and getting an idea from the preview Larask gave us, it is becoming rather clear how they can connect the dots, although there is much we still don't know.

...then again maybe that's my chronic optimism popping up again, anyone have any more pessimism pills?

Does anyone on this thread *not* have pessimism pills?  You might be the only one.  We should probably try to kick the habit, to be frank.

I could start some of my less coherent rambling if that would help? ;)

Well, TIM mentions that Liara is working for the Shadow Broker. He probably means being used by the SB, as I can't see her doing so. She mentions she has debts to take care of, so not just to Feron but to others...

I mean closure in the sense that my Shep had such a non reaction to Liara when compared to other ME1 cameos. Maybe the start of the DLC will expand it abit? I feel like that parody of Subway Jarod in Robot chicken. Caught in the cake store....the inhumanity!

I think issue 3 coming out and NOT having any romantic ties in it did that.  People are discussing what could be now instead of bashing BW for screwing things up.  I think that was weighing on people's minds a bit.  Now so long as BW doesn't screw up issue 4 and any possible expansion they are well on their way to at least mending what ME2 did.

Shepard is pretty much left in the dark throughout that whole situation, she/he doesn't even know Liara got her/his body back until Liara tells her/him.

I always wondered why Shepard couldn't ask Miranda how the heck Cerberus got a hold of Shepard's dead body...

Yeah, Shep doesn't seem all that curious about being revived. Or curious about anything for that matter.
It seems as though Shepard is just along for the ride throughout ME2.
BioWare focused way too much on the new squadmates, I would rather of had three squadmates (I would always play with just Liara and Shep if it was possible) to choose from and the story make sense.
Half the game feels like an eighties action movie where nobody reloads, the hero is never traumatized, and the bad guys all die in hordes.
I want my Shep to show some emotion (especially towards Liara), she is not Arnold Schwarzenegger goddammit!

If Driven's "Liara is working for Cerberus" theory is true, then it got me thinking. At some point at the end of the comic TIM would tell Liara that she needs Cerberus' protection and resources now that the SB is out to kill her. Her offers her the job, but explains that she is to have no more intimate contact with Shepard. Liara upon hearing that qualifier for employment with Cerberus, would naturally refuse, compromising her own safety just so that she doesn't have to avoid Shepard as TIM wants. Here's the really interesting part, what if then utilises emotional manipulation on Liara and tells her something to the effect of "You really think Shepard will want to speak to you again after you've callously handed his/her corpse over to one of his/her enemies?" Thereby he implants that seed of doubt and worry in her mind that Shepard will hate her that we see in ME2. Liara, then worried that Shepard does hate her, sees no other choice but to reluctantly and sorrowfully join Cerberus and end contact with Shepard.

If this were true, it makes Liara so much more of a sympathetic character, and ties in with TIM's MO of being a manipulative bastard.

I like that our standards have been reduced to Bioware not making it worse.

But I hear what you're saying.  We can go back to hoping instead of worrying.

Yup. We have a ton of in-depth discussion about Liara. None of it leads to stupid flames either. After visiting a bunch of threads on this forum, this one has me the most occupied.

NO!  We need Delta's optimism!  We need everyone's optimism.

BTW.... congrats on another 100+ page thread, folks.  I stick mainly to the private groups these days, but still lurk here a few times a day.  It's great that the Liara fans have such a persistent presence on the forum, despite all the terrible things Bioware has done to her (and her fans).

Keep up the great work!

That would work for me.  And from here on out I think we should call this theory "Driven's 'Liara is working for Cerberus' Theory."

Good idea.  This would also explain why Liara shakes her head after kissing Shepard.  Liara's being a bad girl, doing something she ought not be doing B)

It makes it all the more sweet, as even though TIM explicity forbids her from any contact with Shepard, she still can't resist running up to him/her and smooching Shepard. D'awwww, Liara!

Yes!!! spare me, spare me. I tend to have hyperactive optimism, I need no cure people, I am NOT an abomination!

And as Yeled said (I think), I do agree we need more optimism on here, and the fact of where the comic book is headed, we seem to be getting some very much needed reasons for optimism.

Maybe in the expansion we'll be hunting down TIM instead of the SB, or maybe both. :P
