Yep, Aria definitely does have a softer side.

This. And I like her too. Liara's parent or not, I hope they'll bring Aria back for ME 3. And I don't say that about many things (or characters) from ME 2.

I must say, I do think Liara/Aethyta would make a cuter daughter/'father' pairing than Liara/Aria (who probably wouldn't want anything to do with her), but I just don't see Benezia going for someone like Aethyta.

That's were I'm coming from with my speculations.

I dont see Benezia with someone like Aria.

Aria's very charismatic and charming.  She has many, many faces.  She could have been whoever Benezia wanted her to be B)

To Shepard, she is, but I have a feeling she could turn on the charm if needed.

She just seems like a loner to me.

I don't think that's all there is to Aria. A good actor can hint that a character has other sides too without ever saying anything outright. Games are still limited in that regard, but the facial animations and the - great - voice acting, as well as some things she says, do create the impression that Aria also has her different sides, that's at least my view. Can't give any concrete examples though, haven't played the game for quite some time.

If she and Benezia were involved it would have started and ended over 100 years earlier.  Seeing what Benezia became as she fell under Soverign's Indoctrination may have caused her a bit of grief and made her a bit (more?) bitter.

Tricky part of Lia's dad story is that apparently split up happened right after Lia's birth (perhaps year or two after her birth) so she never learn who her father could be.

So far many clues point at Aethyta but to be honest only devs and Shiala could tell us full truth.

EDIT: Night Marcin, i hope that file will help you to hear Lia and others whit thier true voices :D.
Even Mr Martin "TiM" Sheen ^_^.

The problem I have with it is...why did Benezia keep the other parent's identity from Liara her whole life?  This person must be bad news, or Benezia is embarassed by who it is.

If that's the case though, I wonder how Benezia would end up with someone like that.

Hmmm... you known what i just tought about really wicked scenario... what if Shiala is Liara's father?
She was very close to Benezia so there could be a slight chance that they might become more than just partners and when Lia was born they decided to keep that in secret since Shiala was much younger that Benezia after all.
(like case when teacher fall in love whit her student).

Liara speculates that Benezia never revealed the identity of her partner because it caused her too much pain to dwell on it. Perhaps Benezia was trying to protect Liara by not telling her who her father is so as she wouldn't cause the same pain to Liara as well? Benezia didn't want Liara to get hurt emotionally like she was?

Wait...if Aria is Liara's father, and she's also Aleena, Wrex's asari commando friend and speculated lover, then if Aria and Wrex become romantically involved again, that makes Wrex Liara's step father...

...or step mother! Is this Mass Effect or Jerry Springer?

Going to take a break from this thread.

Made a massive mistake - related to something I posted a while ago.

Been checking Google News for anything Liara related as regularly as usual.

There hasn't been anything new in ages. The Liara DLC bandwagon came to a sudden and shuddering halt. :/

Yeah, but I mean in terms of the media publiscing the demand for Liara's DLC, and reporting on it to increase awareness of it. That seems to have halted.

I do agree that we'll probably hear something at E3. I hope.

Next week will be the DLC announcement. Everyone doubts that it will contain story DLC info, or Liara DLC info in particular. So like you said it is the E3 which will provide us with the information we desire.

Well their big announcement this week turned out to be two helmets and they didnt make it that official that we get something more substantial next week so its natural speculation would die down again

But again E3 is most likely the best guess for it,though I'm stil hoping they do this in an expansion or resolve it in ME3,that would do the Liara/SB arc more justice then a one hour DLC,but I'm not sure that Bioware sees it this way

Michael Gamble did say that next week's announcement would be more substantial than an item pack, and Christina Norman tweeted that they have story driven DLC on the way. Whether they're both referring to the same thing remains to be seen.

I just want Liara's DLC to be good, and for it to do her characters justice. I don't care if it takes a long time. The most important thing is that what's released is satisfying, and that Liara is handled in the way she deserves.

Granted an appearance pack has more substance then the last DLC,but its wait and see I guess

And in case it should be the Liara DLC,well if it turns out to be some one hour long shooting fesitval with a few extra lines and Liara becoming the new SB in the end and thereby raming this unnatural character shift that was totally uncalled for completely into the ground, well it would have one positive thing at least I would know what to expect for Liara in ME3
