I've never thought he was bad. I thought he looked quite good. Just wish you could give him hair. Face is nice, lack of hair... meh.

Sheploo is decent looking, the only problem is that at times he looks insane.

From my custom Shepard the worst thing that happened to him was just a goofy smile when he got out of the wreckage at the end of ME1, nothing serious.

I still make the 'GAAH! KILL IT WITH FIRE!' joke every time I see that pic.

I thought he did much better in ME2.  He was kinda "dry" in ME1, not bad but not great.  I think he improved a lot.

That's true....Meer is a great VA but was directed to sound a certain way for DudeShep.  I don't like it and prefer Hale's more emotional delivery, but that's my opinoin and stuff.

I wonder if it had to do with "when" they recorded their lines.  One particular point of difference is when you first meet up with Jacob and you tell him "i just woke up".  Meer gives a decent delivery there, sounds like he is actually in the middle of a gun fight while Hale's line sounds like she just rolled out of bed. 

I always got the impression maybe Hale recorded earlier, scenes changed, then Meer recorded and was able to put them in prooper context.

That's just one example, but there were others along the way where it felt like Hale and Meer were under two different Directors or delivering the same line in two different contexts.

Considering what we know about Ali coming in, being shoved a script and told to read without any prep it wouldn't surprise me.
