"I support vampire Liara as squadmade and LI in Mass Effect 3"^_^

This is the kind of stuff you guys allow to pass for Liara "fans" in this thread these days.  Sad times for Liara indeed.  :(

Unfortunately they are probably right, BW is the king of Copy and Paste and I can see them forcing in a very quick and dirty Aribeth or Bastila path on her at this point.  The original intent (the old unused files) seemed pretty clearly to start her down the path to being the next SB.  They could even wrap that into her being an agent of the reapers/indoctrinated at that point.  Guess we'll have to wait and see how much that has changed.

Hopefully BW realizes that Liara fans DON'T actually want this, but I doubt they care about that one way or the other.

Eh, lighten up Nozy, I was just writing from TMA's perspective kinda (I put it in quotation marks). Also we were just joking, at least me (the smilie as indicator).
Few days back I stated my opinion that it would be horrible if they turned Liara evil. If they should do this indeed, this would be a huge disappointment.
However, a little bit of joking doesn't harm this thread.=]

I wouldn't find it attractive, but to each their own. But wouldn't you agree that the whole scene is still badly written, regardless if you like the outcome?

Gah, finally, I'm back. Uni's been a pain lately, not to mention some problems with posting here.

Anyway, ladies and gents, just been listening to a bit of Andrew Loyd Webber's "Phantom of the Opera". One thing that struck me was the main female lead character (Christine) and some of her lines. One that particularly struck me was this:

"Pitiful creature of darkness,

What kind of life have you known?

(God) give me courage to show you

You are not alone..."

Immediately, I thought of Liara (my A.A.A (i.e: Azure Alien Aphrodite)) and it struck me that this would seem to be something she might say to a Renegade Shepard (particularly if they choose either the Colonist or Earthborn backgrounds); almost a declaration of love unto itself.

Thanks, seemed a little strange at first, unless you read between the lines a little.

On a related note, I seemed to have missed a lot, having been in and out (God bless us, we've reached over 1000 pages!). What did I miss?

EDIT: Wait, don't answer that. I've just found out.Image IPB

CM, there's supposedly an announcement for some "substantial" DLC planned for next week. Whether this will be the Liara DLC remains to be seen, but I'm keeping my hopes as low as possible.

I mean low hopes in terms of the announcement being the Liara DLC!! Don't worry, I still think the Liara content itself will be deep and substantial. I just don't think they're going to announce it next week, and it's far more likely they'll do so at E3. Particularly if it's more in line with a Liara-centric expansion.

I'll keep my ears open then! If it expands on the storyline and relationship, I'm all for it!

On the writing front, my crossover fic has more or less ground to a halt as uni piles the pressure on (three weeks left and three pieces of assesment? Gulp!) But I am writing the next chapter in small segments.

For the romance subplot within it, I have already written up the segment already. Here's a quick extract, which takes place as the main character concludes his recount of the tragic purging of his homeworld:

“Then, how did you survive?” Liara probed nervously.

This clearly gave Altern the most distress, yet he stammered, “I… I betrayed them, turned on them. I was not one of those ‘xeno-conspirators’ and was a young storm-trooper cadet, firmly indoctrinated in the Imperial Creed, so I was not placed under suspicion. I merely picked up my rifle and began gunning my own people down in the streets alongside the Inquisition as they burned others alive.”

Brushing a tear aside, he concluded, “That is why I hate my own people; of what happened to my home, reduced to cinders.”

He turned to leave, hoisting his rifle over his shoulder, leaving a shaking Liara to take in his testimony. Yet he stopped by the door, as if something was holding him back.

“Richard?” she called softly.

His voice was little more than a hushed whisper.

“I don’t know how to properly say this, but… what you have done for me over the past few weeks I am truly grateful.”

He returned, standing before the seated alien.

“Yet, there was a time you asked whether there was a ‘connection’ between us. Whilst I did not know at the time… I am certain of my answer now.”

Richard knelt before Liara, drawing his power weapon and laying it flat on his outstretched palms, as if to offer it to her for inspection.

His head bowed as he intoned, “Liara T’soni, daughter of Matriarch Benezia, crewmember of the SSV Normandy, friend… I avow, from this day forward, to protect and serve you.”

Fumbling for words, he continued. “As a Storm-Trooper of the God-Emperor’s Imperial Guard, I fought for my regiment, the Emperor and for humanity. Now, I fight to ensure the survival of humanity…” He looked up. “… and for your own.”

“I will walk through fire for you. I will bear any burden, pay any cost and sacrifice all who I was and am… ” His eyes started to glisten with tears as he concluded.

"I will even lay down my life, without reserve… because of my love for you.”

(Sorry, I shouldn't be boring you with this. Probably doesn't even make sense...)

Nah, I'm always interested in any fanfic that features Liara, CM. This one is very interesting, seems like you've got her characterisation spot on, to me. Nice work.

Anyways, any topic of interest concerning our A.A.A / B.B.G that you want to discuss or hypothesise? I'm always up for a good talk.

Hmmm, topic for discussing Liara. How about her expeditions in the 50 years she's been an archaeologist and studying the Protheans? I wonder what sort of adventures Liara has gotten up to, the locations she's visited, the people she's encountered.

We know that she's had to hone and train her biotics for self defence as she's often the target of pirates and slavers, so that seems to indicate that the digsites she works at are very remote, and isolated. Like Liara says, she's spent alot of time working by herself. To me, that suggests that she may have been involved in quite a few exciting adventures, as she would have been targeted by pirates and slavers, and also to protect herself from local wildlife or hostile sapient life. Imagine local tribes being quite resistant to a lone asari scientist exploring ruins that they deem sacred. They could get quite hostile to Liara.

A thought that have popped up in my mind is.

Most people here (Including me) hate to see Evil!Liara in ME3, but how would your reactions be if it's Shepard that ends under (maybe temporary?) reaper controll?

Any comments?

That ought to raise some eyebrows and would be a break from a traditional perception that the hero is infalliable. It would certainly make for an unusual gameplay situation, perhaps resulting in your character recieving conflicting objectives.

Alternativly, while under Reaper control, Shepard lashes out a crewmate, forcing your squad to turn their guns on you. All you can do is either take a Paragon/Renegade test to snap out of indoctrination and cause the squad to stand down or you are forced to avoid being killed/apprehended.

Certainly an interesting situation, Lizard.

If Shepard were to fight against his own crew due to Reaper influence. It should be Garrus or Liara who you have a showdown with, then you have to fight them while also having some inner battle going on to regain control of yourself.
