I think it's the hammerhead they are showing off there unfortunately.

They could announce or confirm the Liara DLC at the same time.

Ride the wave of hype that Redemption is creating by merely releasing a statement akin to "As Mass Effect: Redemption nears it's explosive conclusion next month, download the conclusion to Liara T'Soni's fight for Commander Shepard and battle against the villainous Shadow Broker! Available April 2010."

It's entirely possible that the shown DLC at GDC will be the hammerhead, but I bloody hope not. I thought the GDC rumour was for DLC announcement, not showing already announced stuff off.

Being a developers conference, they might focus more on the technical aspects of their DLC and less on the story driven aspects of it.

I wonder what time in April. My birthday is the 19th. That would be the most epic birthday gift ever.

True, although BioWare will be talking about the story aspects of ME2 at GDC (https://www.cmpevent...11&SessID=10644), so you never know.

That is cool and doesn't surprise me.   All of your squadmates "love and admire" you in some sense.  Tali says it on Freedom's Progress" (You don't know Shepard, money well spent), Ashley says it (you are looking at a god..or some such craziness....we would have followed you anywhere), Liara went after you dead body because "she couldn't let you go" (regardless of LI relationship, Miranda resigns as Cerberus agent, Wrex calls you his friend, which is akin to man-love for the krogan :)
This is why I really am optomistic when it comes to Liara and Shepard.  Much like Tali in ME2, Liara is going to hint towards more then just a commander/squadie relationship in 3 (if she isn't your current LI).  I am not convinced that Liara is just a bit player in the overall story.  She is playing an important role..what that role ends up being is going to be determined by the decisions you have made in both 1 and 2.

Hmmm Liara working for Cerberus actually makes logical sense. Where did this rumor come from? Did it stem from someone's speculation?

It may have. I remember reading it a long time ago, but I don't have any recollection of where I heard it from. I'm going to do some serious info digging when I get off work today, otherwise I won't be able to sleep tonight if I can't remember.

I was one of the people who mentioned this after my very first playthrough. God... it was in the Devs really screwed up her character thread I think. I thought it was pretty feasible at the time. I guess after absorbing everything and several playthroughs, people just might be beginning to agree with me.

Whew!! Makes me realize that I'm not a senile old Bas**ard!!

Well, forgive me for not remembering, it was a while ago

It makes sense. It fits on a lot of levels as described by Driven and Raanz too. She handed Shep over to Cerberus, and is very likely working for them too. She does mention helping you get info to fight the collectors. She wouldn't know about that without having a Cerberus background.

I'm slowly getting on board with the Liara is Working for Cerberus theory, though I still think they handled her scene very poorly. But you guys are convincing me.

They cut out so much dialogue it's hard to tell. There's so much left over in the files about Liara and Legion, stuff like that. This theory though, fits on a lot of levels. Only time will tell though.

I like the theory, hopefully we'll find out for sure in about a month when the last Redemption hits.

I'm still resisting but I can see the possibility. I'll just wait and see what happens, there is still at least one month till any DLC can/will arrive if they have plans for it. The comic have to come to a end first.

I just finished that Rescue Operative Mission on my current playthrough and something occured to me. EDI flat out says this information could very well do a great deal of damage to Cerberus if it ever gets out and hinder their operations in the known galaxy. Not once after that mission do Miranda, Jacob or TIM ask you about the data. They have to know that you downloaded it for yourself and kept it. Now considering EDI is now unshackled, and Shep is no fool when it comes to computers, who is to say he doesn;t lock even TIM out of this information so he can use it later. This data had to have some meaning in ME3 or a DLC with Liara. Why else put that mission there and give you the option to keep the data for yourself?

The whole Liara working for Cerberus thing kind of falls apart a bit though as it doesn't make any damn sense for TIM to want to keep Liara THAT far away from you really. He doesn't seem to mind you fraternize with the crew, so its not about relationships. Maybe he really is conflicted about how much Liara knows and if he can trust her himself. Liara, as Shepard's crewmate and possible lover, is a powerful connection to the Commander. This connection could be used by anyone..the Shadow Broker, Collectors, Reapers, TIM, ALliance, COuncil etc...TIM may assume that Liara may try to get over on him.

Or maybe Liara is just simply being used by both, or a lot of people. She may serve as a tragic figure who ultimately was just a pawn in a far bigger game. Remember, the Shadow Broker is probably very old, or at least his organization is. TIM is influential as well. They aren't likely to be seriously threatened by one information broker..only in so far as she could use her connection to Shepard to be valuable for their purposes.

No. You think too small.

"After the monumental sales of Mass Effect 2, and the highly succsessful Graphic novel Mass Effect: Redemption: Bioware is pleased to announce the First Mass Effect  expansion pack--Mass Effect: Shadow of War.

Shortly after the suicidal mission to destroy the Collectors Commander Shephard seeks to bring conclusion to his tragic past before the inevitable coming conflict with the Reapers. Shephard's friend Liara T'Soni now waits precariously between the forces of the Shadow Broker and the Cerebrus organization. Can Shephard find a way to save Liara from her own haunted past, and deal a final blow to these shadowy and elusive organizations--who will survive?

The Alliance is mired in political turmoil. Can the Council Spectre bring stability to the fragmented  bureacracy teetering on revolt, or will he rebel chart a new path for the ever dispondent and non-functional institution of the Alliance? Will former comrades in-arms stand with you or against you?

Bioware will bring you new missions, new conflicts, and new choices that will affect Commander Shephard for the rest of his life.  New missions await, and they could be over as quickly as they began."

Mass Effect: Shadow War expansion pack...coming Winter 2010/11.

To create an illusion of having choices, while in reality all you're doing is shooting stuff? That no one cares about the outcome of this mission (like about any other) is only one more lazy oversight, I'd say.

If Liara DLC does connect to ME 3 in ANY way I wouldn't hold hope for it to be out that soon. Bioware was clear that such "bridging" DLC would come out close to ME 3's release date.

A bit too negative imo. Keeping the data for yourself could be a wildcard in the future. ME3 will tie up a lot of loose ends.

This is one small piece of the bigger puzzle IMO.  A.) You don't even know what the data actually is. B). You can give it to Cerberus, the Alliance, or keep it C). It will take " at least a year" to decipher    Why is this important?  I say because it will determine how your ultimate "final" encounter plays out with Cerberus in ME3.
Can you use it (if you kept it) to either release Liara from her "contract" with Cerberus, or can you use the fact that you turned such incriminating evidence back into their hands as leverage to achieve Shepard's goals with Cerberus, or finally, will it bring you back to awesomeness standings with the council to fully regain all of your pull as a Spectre in order to achieve Shepard's goals in regards to fighting or resisting Cerberus control.

Stinkin' timeline!

Ok, I am now going to spend some time putting down what, in my opinion, the dlc should contain.  And maybe what it shouldn't contain.

First, I don't want to play as Liara.  I want to remain comfortably in Shep's shoes.  While I kinda liked the Joker scene in ME2, I have to admit it was immersion breaking when I became shep again.  So I don't want side missions that involve Liara but not Shep.

I don't want the dlc to occur before Omega 4.  I already played through my main shep story, and don't want to have to go back to play the dlc and then replay the ending again.  Also, I want to deal with Liara without the weight of the collectors and the suicide mission resting on my shoulders.  I want that storyline over and done with.

I want there to be significant dialogue that expands on Liara as a character.  I don't want to have a quick conversation that leads to a fighting mission.  I want depth, people!  Depth and storytelling.

I want a continuation of the romance for those who romanced Liara, but I also want an option for those who didn't romance her to pick up the romance (the more on our side the better for ME3), as well as an option for people to bond strongly with her even if they don't romance her.  I didn't care for the fact that, since I remained faithful to Liara, I couldn't talk to the other characters after a certain point.  I'd like other players who didn't romance Liara to be able to grow attached.

I would like a really well done love scene to be included, but it need not be all hot and sexy (ala Miranda and the engine room).  I'd like it to depict a deepening relationship rather than a new one.  Presumably shep and liara have gone at it more than once at this point (they were in space together for months before shep was killed), and so now we should see how they are deeply bonded rather than just passionate.

I'd like the dlc to deal with the shadowbroker and, in so doing, somehow lead directly into ME3.  Make the content optional but really significant to the main story.  Perhaps the SB has information that is crucial to the reaper threat.  Let's see that play out.

I'd like the dlc to end with the romance moving forward, and with the clear impression that Liara is now a permanent part of your crew, setting things up for ME3 (yeah, I know...good luck with that).

*breaths*  Ok, I know...long post with me just spewing thoughts down.  Sorry 'bout that.  I'm sure I'll come up with more, but I need a breather.
