I hope you get them soon! I still don't have #1 as it is sold out everywhere. It's fun to see what she was up to and her motivations, the drell on the other hand likes to flirt with her...grrr!

New printings of #1 and 2 also came out this week.

Yeah, breaking up with Jack is a real jerk move. She finally opens up and then your old girlfriend comes on the scene? That is rough, man. Real rough.

I think Shep wants to pretend he lives in a Japanese harem anime.
Oh, wait..................

People who romanced Jack shouldn't go back to their old LI, IMO. That's just soooo wrong. Jack should just murder that Shepard....'Critical Mission Failure'.

Though I agree it's not super logical once you think about it, but it's a better explanation for her behavior than we've been given so far. Like I mentioned before, the reasons Ash/Kaidan are kept out of the party are pretty contrived as well - at least we know TIM is a jerk.

Ash/Kaiden are different though.  Aside from the LI, they have very little to do with progressing the story.  Now, if they are LI in your saved game, then I think they will have a minor influence on a much bigger decision in ME3.  Liara on the other hand, is quite intrical to the story.  She is a major player even if she isn't a LI.  Remember, Ash and Kaiden are both susceptible to dying.  Liara is not...she will be in 3, no matter how you played in regards to her.

Yes, and do you notice that nobody aknowledges your relationship if Liara is your LI on the new Normandy? Both TIM and Kelly ask your "personal relationships" and your feelings about either Ash or Kaiden after Horizon, which really annoyed me because it was almost like I was forced to aknowledge something that was never there for me with them (I have always been with Liara)

Jack really is sympathetic, even more so than Liara.  She has been through horrible stuff and for Shepard to show her love then pull it back should get you 1000 renegade points.  Ouch...

Nope, can't see anyone who even compares to Liara there! ;-)

Yeah, baby, I know that I'm the first person you've ever opened up to in your life. But see, I've really just been passing the time until Liara gets back on board. You understand, right?

I wonder how they will write the ME1 love interests finding out about the ME2 LI?

Ashley would be royally angry. Jack vs Ash showdown anyone?

Kaidan's kind of a wimp, so I dunno.

Liara would likely be heartbroken, but I wouldn't be surprised if she expects it on some level. She clearly expects Shepard to hate her, and moving to another lover is sort of an extension of that.

How do the ME2 ones react?

Miranda: the jealous type. probably not happy. professional, so you could probably convince her it was a fling

Jack: the CRAZY jealous type. murderously unhappy

Tali: dunno, but it's probably better for both in the long run to mate with someone that can't kill them

Garrus: I got the feeling this could be construed as a fling, plus the whole incompatibility thing puts a damper on it

Thane: Probably dead soon anyway

Jacob: First Miranda, now you leave me? I'm going to the Citadel to drink.

No doubt everyone really loves or really hates Shepard. I love that you can stick it to TIM at the end of the game and run off with his ship and his crew (or can you!?). I am really curious though to find out whether or not the data that Feron downloaded during Liara's SB confrontation is now in Liara's hands, or if the SB now has it (when they captured Feron) and now both Liara and Cerberus are trying to get it back. Maybe this has something to do with the debt Liara says she needs to repay? Maybe she used it as collatoral for you somehow, making Cerberus rebuild you without altering you (I have wondered why that would be so important to TIM, being such an a** and all). As an asari who has melded with you, I assuming she would be able to tell if you were not you in some way. Now the both of you are being used as pawns and the only one who can fix it is Shepard, who at this point is clueless as to everything that happened while he/she was "asleep".

Actually... after thinking about it some... the data that Shepard recovers could be what he needs to force TIM and Cerberus to work for him... just as I have it written in my fan fic. Wouldn;t that be coincidence!!! lol!!

As for the ship and crew... the NORMANDY is Shep's ship... and he rescued at least half of his crew I'm guessing just from the number of people we see walking back and forth in the last few cutscenes. I can't think of a better motivation to "mutiny" over to Shepard. I mean he risked everything to get them back and he even says right before going through the relay something to the effect... they took my crew and now I'm going to get them back!

I've just realised that it's 5 (FIVE) whole weeks now until issue 4 is released on 7th April.

Damn, it's going to be a long wait! :(

No competition really. In ME 1, I liked Ashley too. But if they really aimed to create the ME 2 LIs as a competition, they failed for me. As little as it is, that picture scene has more depth than anything I've seen of the ME 2 romances so far. Some of the Tali stuff is nice enough, and having Miranda leave Cerberus is fine too, but you get those things from them without a romance too. Romance would mean feelings, and ideally a connection to your PC's life, that is the story. Both is severely missing in ME 2. So I rather think it's still there with Liara (or Ashley), both characters I like better anyway, instead of seeing that it isn't there with the new companions.

I'd rather just get rid of TIM and install (loyal) Miranda as the new leader of Cerberus. Next in line would be wiping out the Shadow Broker and have his former network report to her. Then, smugly walk up to the council and inform them "Oh, Cerberus works for me now. I'm going to kill a bunch of Reapers with my army of Rachni and Krogan. You are welcome to come along if you want, otherwise I'm going to let everyone know you sat on your butts while I saved the galaxy YET AGAIN."

Yeah, this is really why I hold off on trying to figure out the Liara scene too deeply except as an intellectual exercise. There is NOTHING in the entire game about the relationship except a kiss and a picture on your desk. People come up with creative and consistent theories to explain things and they do a really good job. A much better job than what came on those two dvds.

Ultimately everyone is hoping that the DLC fixes what was broken. DLC should be about additional optional content that expands on the world or offers new and interesting playstyles. It shouldn't be like buying a novel and then months later getting chapters of the story that were just plain torn out of the book.

What in game explanation is there for Liara, Tali, and Garrus not saying anything to each other? There just isn't one. I use that and the "only kiss and picture" as my benchmark for how much creative thought and development time went into the scene on Illium.

I think that's pretty fair, to be frank.  A story should stand on its own merit, not need endless speculation to figure out how to fill in the holes they left.

At the very least Tali or Garrus should say something about Liara, Ash, or Kaiden if you romanced one of them in ME1 and are now romancing Tali or Garrus.  Wouldn't they have noticed your previous relationship?  Do they not care at all?

Tali has an almost creepy case of hero worship. Seriously, if you listen to her logs on the recruitment mission they are almost all about Shepard and how great you are. "Shepard would solve this problem!" or "I wish Shepard were here!" and that sort of thing.
Miranda does genuinely seem to fall for Shepard, but I think her issues over her genetic engineering and the fact that Shepard is pretty much the most awesome person in the galaxy WITHOUT gene mods has something to do with it.
Romancing Jack is touching in one sense, but also kind of creepy in another because it's almost like taking advantage of her several emotional issues.

Not to say the ME1 romances are much better. Ashley's feels the most natural. Liara falls in love with Shepard regardless of what you do - though that can be somewhat explained via the joinings, I suppose. Still, she's got to be totally obsessed regardless of whether or not she's the love interest in order to fight to get the body. It makes total sense if they are lovers. I think it would have been kind of cool to have your ME1 LI be the one who gets the body. Of course, they need to cover the case where there is no LI, and Liara is definitely at least enamored with Shepard, if not totally in love.

I do think they probably need to give players an option to romance Liara in ME3 even if she wasn't the ME1 love interest. She pretty obviously would be open to it happening.

As much as I agree, they'd have to go in and write new dialogue for such to occur.  Which means that the rest of us who romanced her in ME1 will very likely get a much more shallow romance.

Yeah, I wouldn't want Liara to be a romance option in ME3 for those who didn't in ME1 if it means it will be at the expense of those of us who romanced her all the way back in ME1.

I think Liara can only be "romanced" if she was already romanced to begin with. And maybe she will have a special power only available to those who were faithful to her too, as a "reward".

I like it a lot. Great job and you hit on one of my reasons to explain why Shepard is so emotionally dead in ME2. I'd love to read more.

Agreed, I hope they will put in the effort to recognize the romance from ME1 as well as making one available for ME3 but I don't know.

Yeah, but how do you logically allow that? Obsessively searching for someone's body and giving them to terrorists for a chance to see them again is pretty intense. It would be kind of disingenuous to ignore the fact that she's either a creepy stalker or feels something pretty close to love for the Commander. I suppose you could argue that Shepard really is her only friend, but that's the level of friendship that tends to develop into something more.
