Night, AZ!

Yeah, I suppose Emma is comparable to Benezia in terms of how they die. Personality wise? Naaaah! ;-)

Isn't it so sad seeing Liara so unhappy and sorrowful in ME2? I hate it.

Very true Image IPB

For me, It sounds kinds funny, but I found that Liara's sorrow made me love her even more. I really liked her in ME1, but to see her like that tore me up inside. I really wish they  had an Hug interupt at the moment she expresses her guilt. I'd like to think that they have the trilogy all planned out but a part of me really worries about her futureImage IPB

Yeah, I'm the same. Although I absolutely hate seeing Liara like that, to see her suffering so much, the fact that she was willing to sacrifice so much, and the reason that she is feeling that way makes me love her even more. Though it's heartbreaking to see Liara in pain, it's very touching to know that it's due to her love for Shepard that she's feeling that pain. It's very bittersweet, and the way Liara almost bursts into tears when she finally opens up, and confesses just what has happened, makes you wish that Shepard would just take her in her arms, and embrace her warmly.

Because...I couldn't let you go. I'm sorry.

Well, based on what we know, a little reading between the lines and some optimisum. I am really hoping we get to console her, on her decision and the grief that came with it in DLC or ME3.

The fact that you just had to leave her there in her grief was *really* disapointing. I spent the rest of the game hoping there was a mission that had something to do with her and I could go back and comfort her. I am confident that they will do her justice in the end.

Indeed, that's the reason as to why I believe that we'll be able to comfort Liara in her DLC. They artificially prevented us through Shepard from consoling Liara, as they want to maintain the status quo of Liara being troubled and the pair of them being unsure of their relationship, because it's going to be tackled in the Liara DLC. We'll finally be able to ease her of her pain, and have an emotional romance reconciliation. It's just an incredibly contrived way in which they've done so, and it makes Shepard look like an idiot.

Agreed, Shepards complete apathy to the whole thing was very frustrating.

As for why they have prevented us from consoling her. I believe that they do indeed have a "master plan" if you will.People quickly seem to lose faith in BW, while it may be forced drama, I think people will look back at this in 2 years and realize how naive they were( I'm one of them). Correct me if I'm wrong but heard somewhere that Liara was the favorite character of a lot of devs. If thats the case they are not going to do anything rash. Its pretty clear (in my eyes) they have her future planned out and this just fits into the scheme of things.

Well, in a different thread, I added a song from Muse, "Unintended". In my mind, this seemed to suit Shepard's perspective, as he talks about Liara, "... the one I'll always love...". Though he laments he cannot be with her immediately, due to "... pieces of the life I had before..." (ie: the Reapers), the general tone of the song suggests hope of reunification.

Just my interpretation though...

Nice, that does fit pretty well.

I posted this one a while back, I'll repost

I think it would be more from Liara's POV.

I like that, CM. To me, watching Shepard stare longingly at Liara's picture on the desk, prior to travelling through the Omega 4 relay, it's like she's vowing to come home alive for Liara. She's witnessed how dying before has absolutely tore Liara apart, and it's like Shepard is promising not to put Liara through that again.

It's a pretty powerful, and moving scene.

Most of what I have heard all strike this point home.

Oh, what the hell, here's another one.

Simon and Garfunkel - Bridge over Troubled Waters.

Not sure if the lyrics are totally relevant, but some of them certainly seem so. Here's the first verse; I leave others to be the judge:

When you're weary, feeling small,
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all;
I'm on your side. when times get rough
And friends just cant be found,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.

Ever noticed how the picture scene before heading through the Omega 4 relay also references back to the love scene with Liara pre Ilos?

Once again, Shepard is alone in her cabin, thinking about Liara. This time, however, she isn't going to walk through the door, and confide in Shepard. Liara isn't going to be there, and they won't be able to spend the night together. Unlike in ME1 in which the pair of them can console and comfort each other, and enjoy each other's loving embrace, they're both left alone, and longing for each other.

It's why I thought they should have included a cut to Liara, back on Illium, stopping work for a second, standing up, turning around and staring up at the sky sadly, thinking about Shepard. It would have really driven the point home that they're lovers, tragically apart at the moment.

Ah, all too true LET.

One last section of music I found. It was a part of the Tom Clancy Game, "Splinter Cell: Double Agent" Image IPB, but what I loved about this was the powerful use of the music itself. I can't necessarily nail it down to one particular theme, so I guess it's open to interpretation.

I'll see what you think.

I like it, CM!

I do like listening to my music, and seeing which songs I can apply to Liara or to Shepard and Liara's relationship. Some of them can be joyful, almost euphoric, others can be really sorrowful, and delve into the depths of despair. There are many different aspects to Shepard and Liara's relationship, now. The terrifying lows and the dizzying highs. Look at how Liara has suffered, but also look at how Shepard has made Liara so happy.

One other thing, though. I'm excited to see when MDK first posts this morning. Last night, he was asking for suggestions as to what people would think Shepard and Liara's little asari daughter would look like. Hint at the content of some upcoming artwork? I hope so!
