Woohoo, DLC announcement today! I bet BioWare amaze us all with a deep and emotionally engaging story-driven Liara DLC /sarcasm

Edit: Apparently Evil Chris has been "dropping mad hints" about something (possibly DLC?). http://social.bioware.com/46/

Take a look at this German PC gaming website:

Apparently, those are 5 screenshots from the DLC that is to be announced today.

That weird green CGI floating head thing. Could that be an avatar for the Shadow Broker, perhaps?

Oh well, still might be fun though.

Edit: Also the article Shatner posted says that there won't be any more squadmates in the future.

Well that is more substantial then I had expected, but in the end just some new stuff made up to shoot somethin

As for the green head thats just the AI thats supposed to be the antagonist I guess, only thing I wonder is why would Shepard care for some Ai that went rouge, unless of course its some experiment that exploded in Cerberus face again and TIM wants Shepard to clean up

Overall though I feel somewhat relieved that it seemingly has nothing to do with Liara so far

BioWare are sort of over-doing the "rogue AI wants to kill all humanz" story.

Yeah but the alternative would have been [pick a color]mercs its not like Bioware is so innovative with enemies in the DLC so far,I just hope it offers more like just tons of mechs to shoot,a new weapon or maybe an armor or something that is at least vaguely useful

I bet it's killing humans because its father never hugged it.

End of Overlord mission:
Paragon ending = hug AI
Renegade ending = shot it in its silly green-floaty face

I wonder if we'll get a new souvenir for the cabin?

I took that to mean there won't be any more permanent squadmates, which doesn't surprise me. The Normandy is now full.

Temporary squadmate status for Liara and/or the surviving Alliance soldier is still a possibility.

I don't really recall, but wasn't one of the N7 missions in ME2 destroying an AI that had gone rogue? I think it used Mira from Noveria in ME1 as it's avatar.

It was Les, on a space station. It was part of the defective OPU story line.

As I recall it,it was a VI and it wasnt really gone rogue,as I understood it,it was just infected with some sort of Virus or was implemented with flawed software or something

Was that the mission with the Portal style panel puzzle thing-a-ma-jig?

Ah yeah, I remember it being on a space station now. One of the puzzles was a variation on the old "beam of light and mirrors" thing.

Sorry, I don't remember much of ME2 as I've only played through it once.

It was, I quite liked it actually. It's not just killing things.

Edit: Whoa, did the forum just go mad for anybody else?

You know what? I think I'll pass on that DLC too. I don't need another side mission that in the end has no point and no meaning. What made ME 1 so great for me was that it was Shepard's story, and everything felt like it was part of it. Whereas ME 2 already feels like many unconnected short stories, and I don't care for that. Bottom line: I don't need these DLCs, can just as well play something else.

And if robots and AI are the main characters in the DLC I doubt it will be filled with dialogue and conversations. Another hour of pew-pew-pewing.

Well I might have called it exactly right. "story driven" to Bioware now means " ZOMG! shoota mishins!"

If it turns out like I expect it to, with "battling rogue AI minions" being the crux of the missions, just like shooter combat is the crux of almost all of the games N7 missions, I dont suppose you can blame them. After all, the DLC probably has to live up to the main games expectations as a boring, mediocre shooter title.

I agree with this.  It definitely means no more permanent squadmates that you can take with you through the whole game, but it doesn't necessarily  preclude a temporary squadmate/partner.

In the case of Liara for example, say they release a DLC where you team up and take down the Shadow Broker.  Since they can't let Liara go with you in the rest of the game due to the suicide mission (well, aside from making it a post-mission-timeframe-only DLC) they could have a conversation at the end where your Shep can ask Liara to come with him/her now that the SB is taken care of, but Liara could say something like, "I can't just yet, there are a few things I need to wrap up first."

Of course that would be the part where we go *Grunt voice* "I, AM, SHEPARD!!  Nothing can stop me!  Let's go wrap that stuff up.  Right now!!"  Hehe, but realistically, it would be a good opportunity for BioWare to give Liara a line of dialog like "I won't keep you waiting much longer. ;) "

As for the "Overlord" DLC, I hope it is connected to the story somehow (like say, Reapers tampering with VIs to make them rebellious AIs or something; yet another avenue of Reaper infiltration of the galaxy in advance of their return).  Most of the N7 missions really don't feel like they're part of the main story at all.  They feel like disjointed events.
