I'd understand what alot of you are saying, if there wasn't a total absence of any kind of exclusive Liara romance content in ME2. To me, that suggests that it's completely absent because it will be tackled in the Liara DLC, when we get her full ME2 role so to speak. The lack of ability to properly comfort Liara, and the absence of romance content, suggests to me that what occured in ME2 was a contrived way to maintain the status quo, and that it will be tackled and featured properly in the DLC.

Les, BW has made no indication that there will be any DLC dealing with any of the ME strings thats been left dangling. They have eluded to an expansion. And from a business viewpoint, I understand why they won't do this DLC. They need to make a profit, and the best way to make that profit is release an expansion that ties ME2 to the last chapter. I'm really sorry Les, I'm pretty confident there won't be any DLC dealing with Liara or Ash/Kainen.

When Redemption was announced last year, they did say that it would tie-in to downloadable content being produced for Mass Effect 2. Add that to the fact that there are files hidden in the game with "liara_dlc" in the title, and to me that suggests that Liara DLC is on the way.
Liara DLC and the expansion doesn't have to be mutually exclusive, by the way. Liara could have her own DLC, and she could be featured in the expansion pack.

Actually, they'll make a profit by releasing these little DLC packs like the Overlord...no need for the expansion. I think they'll ultimately scrap the expansion and just go with ME3.

Agreed, or it will be a relatively short expac not long before ME3 that ties the end of ME2 to the begining of ME3. More or less just a shallow hype generator that they will want folks to pay for.

The fact that the retail version of the game shipped with those Liara DLC files included tells me that it's been planned for some time. If they had really changed their minds over releasing this content, then they would have removed those folders as they're taking up valuable disc space. They're only placeholders, and very small in size. It wouldn't be too hard to remove them from the game's coding.
