What stands out more is how grey she looks.
The lighting in her office really does flub up Liara's colour, doesn't it?
She'll be her normal deep blue again once she's back on board the Normandy.
I'm probably going to get lynched for this, but I rather liked the grey-er blue she is in Mass Effect 2. I never really questioned it, somehow it just fit with the way the graphics had been updated. But when it was mentioned, I did notice.
Still, I don't mind it. Now, don't get me wrong, I was absolutely fine with the in-your-face blueness. But in Mass Effect 2, with so many different asari characters in it, having Liara be a different shade of blue than the rest of them helped her stand out in the visual facet of her character.

You mean if she's ever going to be back on the Normandy. That latest DLC announcement doesn't make me any more optimistic. Pew! Pew! Take that, evil mechs! Like, awesome!
Well on the positive side of the new DLC Shepard seems to get promoted to Cerberus personal clean up guy/girl in it:wizard:
Why do I have the feeling they will excuse this whole event again with the cell went rogue:whistle:

“Shepard...” she said, failing for further words as she began rushing to close the space between them. As Liara took in the sight of him, she could clearly see the strength, the passion, the will burning brightly within him. His eyes blazed with life.
He caught her up in his arms. Liara moaned inwardly to feel that embrace once again, before this too was caught up in that emotional bubble which prevented her from speaking, lest it burst and everything come out all at once.
She hugged him fiercely, afraid to let him go and this should prove to be just another of her fevered dreams of impossible desire and longing, the ones that had haunted her for two long years since hearing those fateful last words: “Liara, go!”
Finally, she found herself crying. Not in violent, wrenching sobs of forlorn yearning, but gentle, desperate tears of thankfulness—to whatever god, goddess, or other deity had brought her Jonathan back to her.
Shepard kissed her softly on the top of her head. His voice carried with it a world of comfort. “They told me at the docking station you were here,” he whispered. “I don't think I really believed them until now.”
As he held her and she him, Liara felt her jumbled emotions begin to smooth themselves out and flow properly once more, until finally she trusted herself to speak. “I've missed you so much, Jonathan.”

This was created by JP, who sadly no longer posts here. He created a test Shepard that had the same colour skin as Samara, and took several pictures of her in several different environments, under different lighting. As you can see, the lighting in Liara's office affects her skin colour alot. Look at it compared to the picture from on board the Normandy.
When we get Liara back on board the Normandy, she'll be her old deep blue colour again.

I think this illustrates just how much of a FAIL the lighting in Liara's office is. It's terrible.

I don't get why it's terrible. The game would be boring if every room had the same lighting. Illium just happens to make blue look paler than it would in sunlight. Now there are some instances where Liara, like all the characters, looks wierd with the way the light hits her face and that is indeed a case of the game engine failing to properly simulate the light. But for the most part the scene looks just fine.

Horrible Joke:
Shepard walks in:
Shepard: Hey Liara! It's me! Shepard! I'm now just like you! You know, all skin dyed blue, and no hair...
Liara: (continues typing) That's nice...
Silence.
Shepard: So... umm... can you finally come with me now?
Liara: (continues typing) I can't... I'm busy.
Shepard:
Liara continues typing as Shepard walks out the door.

Surely you must have seen how the terrible lighting in Liara's office affects her badly, particularly when she's sat at her desk? Take a look at this image, for example:

There's about three or four different light sources that mix together and really mess with the lighting and colouring of Liara's face. There's the blue light that shines on her from behind and covers the right half of her face, there's a strange white light that comes from Liara's right that causes the other half of her face to go that powdery blue colour. There's the orange light from her computer that creates an orange glow on her chin. Also, for some reason there's always a dark shadow that obscures half of her face.
The lighting is awful, and really affects Liara's appearance and messes with her skin colour, as you can see from the picture above.

Personally, I thought the lighting in general was bad, but is it just me or did it seem better when she was standing away from the window during the kiss, then when she sat at her desk with all the different lighting effects?

Indeed, take a look at Liara during the kiss:

As you can see, her skin colour looks a little more blue, but still not quite like her old deep azure blue. It's better than how she looks when sat at her desk, anyway.

Anyone else sick of all this absolute **** DLC BW keeps trying to spoon-feed us? All of it is tack-on crap and I for one am no longer going to fuel whatever notion they apparently have that ****ing over your fans on a regular basis is ok with my hard-earned money. Soooo Overlord...GTFO!
I don't really care anymore. "Tacked on" is exactly how it feels to me too though. I guess I'll just watch it on YouTube, hopefully without the pew-pew parts. Will probably not take more than 10 minutes this way.
